SUMMARY:"Keeping Our Children Safe" Training For Designated Person For Child Protection
DESCRIPTION:A two day course \nAll children have the right to live lives free from abuse and neglect but recent events highlight\, yet again\, how difficult it can be for so many adults to recognise\, and act on concerns about the safety or welfare of a child. The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child states that all organisations concerned with children should work towards what’s best for each child. The Designated Person for Child Protection has a vital role within organisations helping to ensure that adequate safeguards are in place and that necessary action is taken when concerns about a child are raised. This course is aimed at people acting in the ‘Designated Person’ role working in a variety of organisations including schools\, children’s daycare and residential settings\, also services providing support to children and families in the voluntary and private sector. \nFind out more and book a place online via the Children in Wales website

SUMMARY:How different methods of engagement can help involve the citizen in public service delivery
DESCRIPTION:About the seminar \nThe Wellbeing of Future Generations Act requires public bodies to ensure that when making their decisions they take into account the impact they could have on people living in Wales now and in the future. It expects them to: \n\nwork together better\ninvolve people reflecting the diversity of our communities\nlook to the long term as well as focusing on now\ntake action to try and stop problems getting worse – or even stop them happening in the first place.\n\nAs we have so many diverse communities in Wales\, it is important that we adapt the way we communicate and engage with groups accordingly. One size definitely does not fit all! \nThere is no single form of engagement; it is all about breaking down the barriers between people who deliver services and people who use services. \nWhilst there many great examples of public services working alongside the citizen when designing and delivering services\, there are some that are still delivered from the perspective of single service deliverers. This can lead to citizens experiencing multiple\, fragmented approaches that can result in: \n\ncontradictory and conflicting interventions\npoor outcomes for the service user\na waste of valuable resources and poor value for money.\n\nThis seminar will focus on the importance of engaging with citizens and share examples of how organisations in Wales have done this\, using very different and innovative methods. \nWho the seminar is aimed at  \n This seminar is aimed at public services\, third sector managers and officers in the following roles: \n\nProject planners\nPolicy developers\nCommunication managers\nManagers involved in citizen engagement\n\nBooking information \n To book a place at this event\, please complete the online booking form (opens in new window). \nJoining instructions are circulated 1-2 weeks before the event. Please ensure you provide your email address when booking a place to ensure that we can send information to you. \nFor further information on the event\, please email good.practice@audit.wales.

SUMMARY:Building financial resilience in public services - Webinar
DESCRIPTION:About the webinar \nThe aim of this webinar is to share new approaches to building financial resilience (including examples of good practice) and identify the key barriers and how to overcome them.  \nWith the ever changing public service landscape in Wales\, organisations need to put greater emphasis on flexibility\, adaptability and a long-term perspective in their financial management. This means being responsive\, robust and resilient. \nMost public sector organisations manage their finances proficiently and have become lean. However\, with significant funding gaps forecast in future years\, how can they continue to be financially resilient? \nA plan is needed! \nWe recently published a report: Savings planning in councils in Wales which focused on the development\, delivery and monitoring of savings plans in councils in Wales. Overall we concluded that medium term financial planning is generally effective\, but short comings in savings planning present a risk that some councils will not achieve the savings they need to make. \nA well-considered Medium Term Financial Plan (MTFP) is a critical process that supports an organisation’s resilience and financial sustainability. The MTFP may be put together by the Finance Team\, but must be owned by the decision makers and those that deliver services. \nWho the webinar is for \n This webinar is aimed at the following public sector members\, officers; including: \n\nHeads of Service\nService/operational Managers for major operational delivery\nBudget holders\nSection 151 Officers & Finance Managers\nCabinet Members with budget and planning as part of their portfolio.\n\nFind out more and book a place online via the Audit Wales website
