SUMMARY:Community Conversations: Start a conversation – and make a difference
DESCRIPTION:Communities across Wales face their own unique challenges. These are best addressed by employers and local partners working together to achieve a bigger\, more sustainable impact. \nCollaboration is key – but that starts with a relationship built on mutual understanding. \nThis is the idea at the centre of BITC’s series of Community Conversation events. These events will create an opportunity for responsible companies and community organisations to discuss both the challenges\, opportunities and the ways everyone can work together. Sponsored by Wales & West Utilities\, the Community Conversations will help to make connections and develop relationships between employers and community groups. \nBITC are arranging two Conversation events in the coming months – so please book whichever is the most relevant to you. If you would like to attend both our events\, please feel free! \n\nPorth – on Friday 24 November at The Pop Factory (10:00 – 13:00) – book a place here!\n\n\nButetown – on Friday 8 December at Butetown Community Centre (10:00 – 13:00) – book a place here!\n\nAs a community organisation you understand the particular issues at hand in the local area. This is incredibly valuable to local employers looking to partner with community groups. Attending the Community Conversation is a great opportunity for you to develop new relationships with employers\, unlock new ideas and potential support and share some of the positive actions already taking place. So please join us! \nPlease note that places at our Community Conversation event are limited to one representative per organisation. They are anticipating a high level of interest in these events\, so please book now to avoid disappointment. \nIf you have any questions about the event\, please contact the BITC Cymru team on 029 2078 0050.

SUMMARY:Introduction to Mindfulness
DESCRIPTION:A One Day Course \nStress is a leading cause of sickness absence across all workplaces in the UK. The aim is to explore the meaning and potential applications of mindfulness across a variety of roles and workplace settings and to provide participants with the opportunity to explore how it might enhance their lives\, personally and professionally. \nFind out more and book a place online via the Children in Wales website

SUMMARY:Sanctuary in the Senedd
DESCRIPTION:https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/sanctuary-in-the-senedd-noddfa-yn-y-senedd-tickets-40139926601 \nAn event by the Welsh Refugee Coalition: \n “Imagine having to grab your family and run\, leaving everything you know and love behind to try to find a safe place and the chance of a new life. This is the plight of 65.6 million people worldwide who have been forcibly displaced from their homes as a result of persecution\, conflict\, violence or human rights violations.  By the time you finish reading this diary marker 20 more people would have been forced to flee – 20 people just like you or me. \nIt’s also people like you and me\, living across Wales that have offered the hand of friendship to the tiny proportion of displaced people seeking sanctuary within our communities. Welsh communities have responded to the ‘refugee crisis’ by opening their hearts and homes to new friends and neighbours\, by offering a warm Welsh welcome and setting up co-ordinated support through groups and places of sanctuary. In doing so our lives are enriched beyond measure and we share friendships with some of the most humble\, uplifting\, inspiring and resilient people you will ever have the fortune to meet. \nWe want Wales to become the world’s first Nation of Sanctuary – what an idea! A whole country where people seeking sanctuary find people who welcome them\, understand why they are here\, support them and most important of all\, actively include them as participants\, volunteers and members\, wherever they go. \nJoin us on 24th January to find out how far Wales has come on its journey towards becoming a Nation of Sanctuary and meet people from across Wales to hear about their experiences and better understand how we can work together to ensure that Wales\, as a globally responsible nation\, plays a full role in supporting people seeking sanctuary. \n We will be in the Senedd from 10:30am-1:45pm with a programme full of discussion and debate. Full details will be provided in due course. Please let us know if you are able to join us. \n Date: 24th January 2018 Time: 10:30am – 1.45pm (lunch will be provided) Location: The Senedd\, Cardiff Bay \nThis event is co-ordinated by the Welsh Refugee Coalition – a coalition of organisations working in Wales with asylum seekers and refugees at all stages of their journey\, and with the communities in which they live.”

SUMMARY:Understanding and Responding to Bullying Behaviours
DESCRIPTION:A One Day Course \nIn a recent survey by Ditch the Label 50% of young people stated they had been bullied at some point\, with 11% stating they are bullied on a daily basis.  Of those young people reporting being bullied 44% developed depression\, 41% developed social anxiety and 33% had suicidal thoughts. The impact of bullying behaviours has a detrimental impact on social\, emotional and academic development. The consequences of such behaviours extend beyond the target and effects those caught up within the bullying cycle. Understanding bullying and identifying what works in preventing such behaviours is key to establishing safe\, caring and supportive environments where such behaviours are unacceptable and not tolerated. \nThis course will help you look at ways of supporting children and young people to develop the skills needed to develop healthy relationships. \nFind out more and book a place online via the Children in Wales website
