SUMMARY:How different methods of engagement can help involve the citizen in public service delivery
DESCRIPTION:About the seminar \nThe Wellbeing of Future Generations Act requires public bodies to ensure that when making their decisions they take into account the impact they could have on people living in Wales now and in the future. It expects them to: \n\nwork together better\ninvolve people reflecting the diversity of our communities\nlook to the long term as well as focusing on now\ntake action to try and stop problems getting worse – or even stop them happening in the first place.\n\nAs we have so many diverse communities in Wales\, it is important that we adapt the way we communicate and engage with groups accordingly. One size definitely does not fit all! \nThere is no single form of engagement; it is all about breaking down the barriers between people who deliver services and people who use services. \nWhilst there many great examples of public services working alongside the citizen when designing and delivering services\, there are some that are still delivered from the perspective of single service deliverers. This can lead to citizens experiencing multiple\, fragmented approaches that can result in: \n\ncontradictory and conflicting interventions\npoor outcomes for the service user\na waste of valuable resources and poor value for money.\n\nThis seminar will focus on the importance of engaging with citizens and share examples of how organisations in Wales have done this\, using very different and innovative methods. \nWho the seminar is aimed at  \n This seminar is aimed at public services\, third sector managers and officers in the following roles: \n\nProject planners\nPolicy developers\nCommunication managers\nManagers involved in citizen engagement\n\nBooking information \n To book a place at this event\, please complete the online booking form (opens in new window). \nJoining instructions are circulated 1-2 weeks before the event. Please ensure you provide your email address when booking a place to ensure that we can send information to you. \nFor further information on the event\, please email good.practice@audit.wales.

SUMMARY:Chuffed.org Crowdfunding for Social Causes Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Donation-based crowdfunding is a new way of raising funds and allows you to source money for a project by asking a large number of contributors to donate a small amount\, and asking a small number of contributors to donate a large amount. In return\, backers may receive token rewards that increase in prestige as the size of the donation increases. \nThe Workshop \nThis workshop is hosted by Chuffed.org\, one of the leading (free!) global crowdfunding platforms for social causes. During this Workshop\, Chuffed.org Community Leader Dave will show you how to: \n\nFind your crowd (figure out who is going to support your project and why)\nTell a specific\, inspiring story that your supporters care about\nSet an achievable target and blow it out of the park\nCreate a marketing and promotion plan for your campaign\n\nAs this is a hands-on workshop\, places are limited to max.15 participants. \nAbout the Facilitator – Dave Thomas \nDave has been involved in crowdfunding for over three years and managed to secure many thousands of pounds for good causes. He has used different methods including fundraising parties\, funding through corporates and by reaching out to individuals and the third sector. Through this workshop Dave will be sharing his own learnings as well as the key Chuffed Crowdfunding Strategy tips with others looking to make a difference in their community. \nFees \n\n£15 Discount ticket for registered charities and existing Chuffed.org Campaigners\n£30 Standard ticket price\n\nFunds raised through the workshop will be dedicated to David’s next Chuffed.org campaign: the development of a new playground in the village where he lives which has the aim of getting children outside more and doing what children do best – play! \nBook a place on the event

SUMMARY:"Keeping Our Children Safe" Training For Designated Person For Child Protection
DESCRIPTION:A two day course \nAll children have the right to live lives free from abuse and neglect but recent events highlight\, yet again\, how difficult it can be for so many adults to recognise\, and act on concerns about the safety or welfare of a child. The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child states that all organisations concerned with children should work towards what’s best for each child. The Designated Person for Child Protection has a vital role within organisations helping to ensure that adequate safeguards are in place and that necessary action is taken when concerns about a child are raised. This course is aimed at people acting in the ‘Designated Person’ role working in a variety of organisations including schools\, children’s daycare and residential settings\, also services providing support to children and families in the voluntary and private sector. \nFind out more and book a place online via the Children in Wales website
