DESCRIPTION:The aim of this WCVA training course is to provide knowledge and understanding of data protection requirements\, to ensure that organisations comply with the law and good practice.\n\nThe Data Protection Act 1998 sets out a number of requirements that most organisations have a legal duty to comply with\, including those working in the third sector. Positive early years experiences and supportive home environments\, workplaces and communities have a huge role to play in addressing some of these issues.   \nThe day will focus on practical workshops of what is working in this key area of tackling poverty. \nThe Minister for Communities and Tackling Poverty will explain her long term vision for addressing poverty in Wales and the Welsh Government priorities going forward \nAn agenda will follow closer to the time.

DESCRIPTION:On 27th October 2015 the Equality and Human Rights Commission in Wales launched the Strategic Plan consultation for the period 2016-19. The Commission is required under the Equality Act 2006 to consult on and publish a strategic plan every three years. \nThis will coincide with the publication of ‘Is Britain Fairer?’\, their report on the progress of equality and human rights in Britain. This report is produced every five years and sets out the key equality and human rights challenges which have fed into the development of the Strategic Plan. \n“We want to hear how our draft strategic objectives resonate with you and how we can work together to move the equality and human rights agenda forward in Wales. DESCRIPTION:The aim of this Participation Cymru course is to examine how to approach and create an effective digital story to share experience and engage service users.\n\n\nMany organisations are seeing the benefit of gathering ‘real-life’ stories from service users\, staff and volunteers to help improve their service delivery and demonstrate impact.. The focus of this two day course is for the participants to leave feeling confident that they could work with people one to one to record an audio story\, edit the audio recorded and know how to illustrate the story visually. Participants will also gain an understanding of the importance of respecting the authenticity of the story as they make editorial decisions regarding another’s voice and also have their own story condensed and edited. DESCRIPTION:This Cardiff Council course is aimed specifically at activities co-ordinators and anyone involved in activities for people in residential care settings. \nContinued physical movement is massively important to maintain flexibility\, retain independence and encourage confidence. The workshops are specifically designed for care teams\, volunteers and family members and are achievable yet fun. We believe that activity shouldn’t be the responsibility of one person and ensure our learners understand the importance of continued mobility for raised self-esteem and continued independence.  All our workshops are experiential so learners will be joining in rather than just listening to the trainer or reading paperwork. \n\nExperience Seated Physical Activities (SPA) to improve wellbeing\nUnderstand why maintaining mobility is essential\nExplore health & safety when delivering activities\nLearn a number of basic SPAs through practical experience\nExplore a range of motivational techniques to encourage participation\nGain an understanding of the importance of keeping written records\nLeave with a confident and positive attitude to this therapeutic activity!
