SUMMARY:RNIB 'Employers with Vision' Conference
DESCRIPTION:Only one in every four blind and partially sighted people is in work in the UK at the moment\, compared with around three out of four of the general population.\nRegistered blind or partially sighted people with a degree or higher still only have the same chance of getting a job as someone with no qualifications in the general public.\nYoung blind and partially sighted people are twice as likely to not be in education\, employment or training compared to other young people of the same age.\n\nAnd yet \n\nPeople with sight loss succeed in a wide variety of jobs across almost all employment sectors.\nThere is evidence to show that disabled employees take less than average sick leave\, have low absentee rates and long tenures and employers describe them as loyal\, reliable and hardworking.\nThe Westminster government funded Access to Work scheme can cover all the costs of providing specialist software\, equipment and support for a blind or partially sighted employee.\n\nCome and join the increasing number of employers of all sizes and sectors\, who are positive about employing people with visual impairments\, and actively contributing to the government’s aim of halving the employment gap that exists for disabled people. \nThe day will include expert speakers\, personal case studies and practical exercises to provide the business case\, best practice and personal insight into recruiting\, employing and retaining productive blind and partially sighted staff. \nTo reserve your place\, contact Katharine Drinkwater at katharine.drinkwater@rnib.org.uk\, or 029 2082 8533. \nDelegate costs: \nLarge organisation (251+ employees) £50 \nSME organisation (10-250 employees) £25 \nMicro organisation (1-9 employees) £10

SUMMARY:Brexit and the Welsh Economy
DESCRIPTION:THIS EVENT IS CPD CERTIFIED \nDelegates at this seminar will discuss the challenges and opportunities for the Welsh Economy as the United Kingdom prepares to withdraw from the European Union. \nIt follows the Welsh Government’s white paper on Brexit which sets out its priorities ahead of the UK’s withdrawal from the EU\, including retaining full access to the Single Market\, guaranteeing the rights of EU migrants living in Wales\, the replacement of current EU funding and the establishment of a transitional phrase after Brexit. \nPlanned sessions will examine what Brexit will mean for different sectors of the Welsh Economy\, with uncertainty over the terms of transferring EU legislation to UK law\, and the challenges for adapting to new trading arrangements. \nDelegates will also consider the wider implications of Brexit on devolution – following the Welsh Government’s policy document – with questions surrounding the future framework of inter-governmental relations regarding the forthcoming repatriation of powers from the EU. \nFind out more about the event and how to book a place

SUMMARY:Community Conversations: Start a conversation – and make a difference
DESCRIPTION:Communities across Wales face their own unique challenges. These are best addressed by employers and local partners working together to achieve a bigger\, more sustainable impact. \nCollaboration is key – but that starts with a relationship built on mutual understanding. \nThis is the idea at the centre of BITC’s series of Community Conversation events. These events will create an opportunity for responsible companies and community organisations to discuss both the challenges\, opportunities and the ways everyone can work together. Sponsored by Wales & West Utilities\, the Community Conversations will help to make connections and develop relationships between employers and community groups. \nBITC are arranging two Conversation events in the coming months – so please book whichever is the most relevant to you. If you would like to attend both our events\, please feel free! \n\nPorth – on Friday 24 November at The Pop Factory (10:00 – 13:00) – book a place here!\n\n\nButetown – on Friday 8 December at Butetown Community Centre (10:00 – 13:00) – book a place here!\n\nAs a community organisation you understand the particular issues at hand in the local area. This is incredibly valuable to local employers looking to partner with community groups. Attending the Community Conversation is a great opportunity for you to develop new relationships with employers\, unlock new ideas and potential support and share some of the positive actions already taking place. So please join us! \nPlease note that places at our Community Conversation event are limited to one representative per organisation. SUMMARY:Introduction to Mindfulness
DESCRIPTION:A One Day Course \nStress is a leading cause of sickness absence across all workplaces in the UK.
