SUMMARY:All Wales basic safeguarding awareness training
DESCRIPTION:The aim of this WCVA course is to convey a number of key principles in the safeguarding of individuals and to provide staff with the basic foundation knowledge about responding to abuse and neglect.This course has been developed by the Care Council for Wales\, WCVA\, and local authorities. It is a basic safeguarding awareness programme that can be used for those working with children\, young people and adults. DESCRIPTION:This Learning Disability Wales course will help you understand recent changes to the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) and the need to demonstrate that care arrangements are lawful and correctly authorised. \nClick here to see more information and to make an online booking. \nThis course will enable staff to continue to follow the original intentions of the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) and the Human Rights Act: that people with diminished ability to make decisions should participate as fully as possible\, be able to make important choices where able and that substituted decision making should be both person-centred and fully accountable. \nDesigned for \nManagers and staff in organisations running care homes and supported living schemes for people with a learning disability and autistic spectrum disorders\, particularly staff responsible for: \n\nmaking support arrangements and producing care plans\nliaising with involved professionals and commissioners of services\nproducing agency policies\n\nThis course is also suitable for advocacy staff and others who a need to know about the changes to the law.

DESCRIPTION:On 27th October 2015 the Equality and Human Rights Commission in Wales launched the Strategic Plan consultation for the period 2016-19. The Commission is required under the Equality Act 2006 to consult on and publish a strategic plan every three years. \nThis will coincide with the publication of ‘Is Britain Fairer?’\, their report on the progress of equality and human rights in Britain. This report is produced every five years and sets out the key equality and human rights challenges which have fed into the development of the Strategic Plan. \n“We want to hear how our draft strategic objectives resonate with you and how we can work together to move the equality and human rights agenda forward in Wales. We are interested in your views on the Strategic Plan and what you see as the most helpful role for the Equality and Human Rights Commission in Wales. \n“It is important to the Commission that our Strategic Plan is relevant to our stakeholders and we would like to invite you to one of two third sector events to discuss it with us.” \n19th November – Cardiff – Click here to register \n9th December – Llandudno Junction – Click here to register \nDuring the day there will be: \n\nAn update of Is Wales Fairer? which will be published in December.
