SUMMARY:WOW ( Wales One World) Film festival - FREEDOM FIELDS showing
DESCRIPTION:WOW ( Wales One World) Film festival to offer this fantastic opportunity to Women and Girls from the community to come and watch this incredible film ‘FREEDOM FIELDS’ in Newport on 26th March at 10am. \nFreedom Fields is a unique documentary\, made over the course of 5 years\, following the Libyan national women’s football team. It shows the lives of a diverse group of women who are brought together through the love of sport\, at the intersection of gender politics with revolution as it’s backdrop. \nThe film’s producer\, will be coming to introduce it and join us to chat over coffee and cake afterwards. \nIn my current role of tackling inequality in sporting participation for diverse community groups and also as part of the new launch of Women in Sport campaign #WatchHerGo\, this will be a brilliant opportunity to inspire females from the community to take up sport and physical Activity. \nIf you would like to attend or bring a group to watch the film\, please can you get in touch with me by  Wednesday 20th March to book your spaces. \nThe film is free but must book spaces. \nFor those living in Cardiff and Swansea\, there will be some support available for transport costs. \nDetails of the events are up on the website: https://www.wowfilmfestival.com/en/wowfilms/item/301-freedom-fields and flyer attached. \nMany thanks \nRajma Begum \nNational (BME) Diversity Officer\, WCVA

SUMMARY:Keeping People Well: Moving More\, Eating Well. Creating a Health Weight Framework for Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan
DESCRIPTION:See flyer here \n“Keeping people well”: Moving More\, Eating Well – Creating a Healthy Weight Framework for Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan: Together we have already made really good progress across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan\, in keeping people healthy and well\, through our wellbeing plans\, our Area Plans and our organisational plans\, but we have much more to do if we want to be the best in Wales\, the UK and to be an exemplar of good practice internationally.  One of our challenges is how we can encourage and support people to achieve a healthy weight\, creating healthy opportunities and environments around food and physical activity. We want to set the challenge of how we can collectively do all that we can to create change across our organisations and teams in delivering action on healthy weight. \nCome and help us to get that right\, be part of our conversation to get our joint actions for the next 4-5 years! \nCardiff Workshop Tuesday 12th March 2019 at 1pm for the Cardiff workshop. The venue for this workshop is Star Hub\, Muirton Road\, Splott\, Cardiff CF24 2SJ.   To reserve your place\, please contact Deborah Page on: Deborah.page2@wales.nhs.uk or 02921 832125.

SUMMARY:Focus Group: The Badge Scheme
DESCRIPTION:The Equality\, Local Government and Communities Committee is currently looking at how the Blue Badge Scheme operates in Wales\, and they want to hear from you! \nThe Blue Badge Scheme provides a national arrangement of parking concessions for disabled people. In Wales\, the Welsh Government is responsible for the Scheme\, but it is administered by individual local authorities who issue the badges. \nThe Committee is looking carefully at a number of different aspects – the impact of extending the eligibility criteria for a Blue Badge in Wales\, the support and information available to Blue Badge applicants\, and how different local authority areas deal with assessments\, fees and enforcement. \nWe would love to hear from you.  Your voice matters and can influence the work of the Committee and the recommendations it makes to the Welsh Government. We would like to invite you to take part in a focus group. \nWe would like to hear from people who have; recently renewed or applied for a blue badge\, have lost their blue badge\, people not receiving PIP (Personal Independence Payment) who have tried to apply for a badge  and temporary blue badge holders. \nIf you would like to come along to the focus group\, or have any questions\, please e-mail Ruth.nortey@disabilitywales.org. \n  \nplease find below the link to our online survey on the Welsh Blue Badge Scheme. \nWe realise that many people will not be able to attend the focus group and we would be grateful if you could take the time to complete the short survey and tell us your thoughts and experiences on the current Blue Badge Scheme in Wales and how the system could be improved. \nYou can access the survey here: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/JPDPFPP
