SUMMARY:Discounted Promoting Energy Efficency Course
DESCRIPTION:Severn Wye (as part of the Energy Advice Training Consortium) has funding* from Welsh Government to provide the course ‘Promoting Energy Efficiency to Potential Customers’ at a discounted price. The full cost of the course is £210 but discounts are available for employed people living or working in Wales (o;rganisations with fewer than 250 people pay just £63 per person; organisations with more than 250 people pay £105 per person). (All prices exclusive of VAT) \nThe course is a one-day Skills First level 1 qualification called ‘Promoting Energy Efficiency’. This is great for those just starting out in the industry or for those who have a good understanding but need some help in communicating their knowledge to customers. They particularly see this as an important course for any customer-facing staff as it will help them to link measures together providing added service and satisfaction for the customer and opportunity of a cross-sell for the company. SUMMARY:Mental Health First Aid (Wales)
DESCRIPTION:  \nMHFA (Wales) is a 12-hour course which is funded and supported by the Welsh Government and its partners include the Public Health Wales\, Health Challenge Wales and Mind Cymru. MHFA is in 21 countries in the world. The idea of MHFA is that people should be taught how to perform basic ‘first aid’ for those exhibiting signs of mental distress\, just as they are commonly taught first aid for physical problems. MHFA improves mental health literacy and helps people to recognise the signs and symptoms of someone with mental health problems; to respond to various mental health crises\, engage with\, support and signpost people to appropriate professional help.  \nWhy attend? \nMental health problems are extremely common with one in four people experiencing some kind of mental health problem in any one year. Not only will it help to increase your self awareness of the importance of mental health but it will help you to help others in your place of work and in your personal life.  \nWho should attend? \nMHFA is for everybody. DESCRIPTION:This very practical course is intended to help people who facilitate meetings\, involvement events\, discussion or focus groups\, seminars or workshops to create the conditions that will enable people to contribute and find the whole experience rewarding. \n  \nWhy attend? \nHave you ever left a meeting or event wishing more people had spoken up about an issue or concern? Various reasons can prevent people from doing so. SUMMARY:Prenatal alcohol exposure and the lifelong effects: Are we really doing enough?
DESCRIPTION:Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) is the leading\, known\, preventable intellectual disability and is only caused by prenatal alcohol exposure. International studies have suggested that 1 in 100 people may have FASD; other studies have suggested that 5 in 100 people have this condition\, meaning that there could statistically be between 8000 and 40\,000 babies born a year with this condition in the UK\, though it is unlikely that many would be diagnosed. Naturally these babies grow up and will require support throughout their lives. \nThis NewLink Wales course is aimed at people who are working with children and young people or adults with mental health problems/disabilities within any setting. By the end of the course\, participants will be able to identify the causes of FASD and explore the long term effects of FASD on young people and adults. They will also be able to explain the difference between FAS (Foetal Alcohol Syndrome) and FASD.
