DESCRIPTION:On the 1 October 2010 all existing anti-discrimination legislation was replaced by the Equality Act 2010. The Act has removed inconsistencies\, making legislation simpler to understand and comply with. It also strengthens the law\, making it easier to tackle disadvantage and inequality. \nThis Diverse Cymru course is particularly relevant for employers and service providers from the public\, private or voluntary sectors\, and the aim of the course is to provide an understanding of the main obligations of employers and service providers under the Equality Act 2010. \nThe cost is £85 per delegate. DESCRIPTION:This Diverse Cymru 12-hour MHFA (Wales) course is part of the national training programme for Wales and its partners include the Welsh Government\, Health Challenge Wales and Mind Cymru.Comparisons can be drawn between MHFA and emergency first aid. In both cases members of the public can offer immediate aid and support the person to get appropriate help. MHFA improves mental health literacy and helps people to recognise the signs and symptoms of someone with mental health problems; to respond to various mental health crises\, engage with\, support and signpost people to appropriate professional help.MHFA aims to help participants: – Preserve life where a person may be a danger to themselves or others. – Provide help to prevent a mental health problem developing into a more serious state. – Promote recovery of good mental health. – Provide comfort to a person experiencing mental health distress. \nThe cost is £110 per delegate. DESCRIPTION:WCVA is a delivery partner of Jobs Growth Wales\, a new Welsh Government initiative that will create 4\,000 jobs annually for out-of-work 16-24 year olds. \nFunding for six months’ employment at national minimum wage is available to employers that are interested in creating opportunities for young people and up to 1\,000 of the annual 4\,000 jobs will be funded through WCVA’s Jobs Growth Wales programme. \nThrough the programme\, employers will have the opportunity to both directly create jobs that are funded for a six-month period\, and also to create employment opportunities that involve elements of training and support similar to the Intermediate Labour Market (ILM) model. \nWCVA is holding three information events next month to introduce Jobs Growth Wales\, explain how organisations can take part in the programme and offer attendees the chance to ask questions directly to the staff members that will be managing and delivering our Jobs Growth Wales programme. \nThe event will end at 1.00pm when a buffet lunch will be served.
