SUMMARY:Protection of Vulnerable Adults (POVA) Level 2 training
DESCRIPTION:Safeguarding Adults: It’s everybody’s business – here’s information about this Cardiff Council training course\nThe protection of vulnerable adults against psychological\,sexual\, emotional\, physical and financial abuse is powerfully explored in our unique interactive workshop. \nSessions are designed around carefully researched case studies exploring situations which have led to the abuse of adults. We use drama and discussion to approach the issues faced by frontline staff and managers in an accessible way\, inspiring and shaping new conversations about how best to respond in situations where adults are at risk. \nDrawing directly from National and Local Safeguarding Policies and Procedures for Adults\, Dignity in Care guid- ance and the Serious Case Review into the death of Steven Hoskin\, the three-hour workshop develops essential awareness of the individual roles and responsibilities of all staff and managers with regard to: \n•    Recognising Abuse •    Reporting Abuse •    Preventing Abuse \nWe are passionate about the live experience and our skilled actors and facilitators create scenarios which challenge perceptions and communicate critical messages with lasting impact. \nBy creating a safe\, dynamic training environment\, a range of perspectives and alternative outcomes can be explored. Our goal is to provide frontline staff and managers with the knowledge and confidence to ensure nothing is missed in their day to day exposure to potential abuse situations. \nWe deliver training for staff and managers working within the following areas: •    Adult Service Providers •    Care Homes •    Health •    Voluntary & Independent Sector •    Housing \nTo book your place\, email scwdp@cardiff.gov.uk

SUMMARY:“Keeping Our Children Safe” Training for Designated Person for Child Protection
DESCRIPTION:Two-day Children in Wales course \nAll children have the right to live lives free from abuse and neglect but recent events highlight\, yet again\, how difficult it can be for so many adults to recognise\, and act on concerns about the safety or welfare of a child. The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child states that all organisations concerned with children should work towards what’s best for each child. The Designated Person for Child Protection has a vital role within organisations helping to ensure that adequate safeguards are in place and that necessary action is taken when concerns about a child are raised. This course is aimed at people acting in the ‘Designated Person’ role working in a variety of organisations including schools\, children’s daycare and residential settings\, also services providing support to children and families in the voluntary and private sector. \nFind out more and book via the Children in Wales website.
