SUMMARY:Crowdfunding
DESCRIPTION:An Institute of Fundraising Cymru event Grassroots (Cardiff) Ltd a long-standing youth development charity undertook a Crowdfunding campaign in the summer of 2015.  The charity undertook Crowdfunding as a means of replacing a loss of core funding which was formerly awarded to the project from the Local Authority.  Grassroots (Cardiff) Ltd has a long history of supporting young people and the charity thought that it could use its local connections to raise funds to maintain a full-time service to some of the city’s most complex and vulnerable young people.  The charity undertook a three-month mission to raise a target of £20\,000\, using the local press\, previous clients and social media to promote the campaign.” \nIn this presentation Dan Wilson (Grassroots [Cardiff] Ltd) will talk about the problems and pitfalls and highs and lows of this successful Crowdfunding campaign followed by an informal question and answer session. \nBook online \nRegistration from 9.30am

SUMMARY:Introduction to Soft Outcomes and Distance Travelled
DESCRIPTION:A one-day Children in Wales course \nThe Social Services and Wellbeing Act (Wales) 2014 came into force on 6th April this year and places a new focus on services supporting the well-being outcomes of the people they are working with. The term ‘wellbeing’ is used to refer to the quality of people’s lives\, and covers both subjective and objective aspects.  Subjective well-being focuses on soft outcomes such as how people are feeling and how they perceive their lives and personal goals.  Objective well-being focuses on the conditions which affect those feelings such as health or education which are easier to measure in hard outcomes. Both of these perspectives are valuable for understanding children’s well-being. \nThis course is relevant for managers and practitioners who wish to demonstrate that their intervention has made a difference to outcomes for people they work with.  Budgets are tight and all organisations need to consider economy and efficiency\, but it is important to keep a focus on the effectiveness of services. This course will look at measuring the soft outcomes that your intervention has achieved for the people you work with. Participants will explore a range of methods that can be used with all groups – from children and young people to adults. \nFind out more and book online
