SUMMARY:Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
DESCRIPTION:CBT is a psychotherapeutic approach to problem solving and reaching goals is future focussed – although we seek to understand how past events led the person to where they are now\, the approach is very much about moving on. CBT has a massive evidence base and it allows the practitioner to explore the links between thoughts (cognitions)\, feelings and behaviour – especially if any of these elements are identified as “dysfunctional”.  CBT is used with a variety of different disorders ranging from mild anxiety and depression to more complex mental health problems such as eating disorders\, complex trauma and psychosis. This NewLink Wales training course focuses on the key approaches that are designed to be delivered by key workers as part of their client work sessions. SUMMARY:Tree of Hope
DESCRIPTION:The idea for the Tree of Hope came from Living Room Cardiff CEO’s visit to a ground-breaking Philadelphia Treatment Centre as part of his Churchill Fellowship in America. The concept of the tree is to demonstrate recovery from addiction is a reality and does happen.Wynford Ellis Owen was struck at the simplicity of the Tree of Hope concept and thought it a great idea to bring to Wales to mark our first Christmas at Living Room Cardiff. It has since evolved into a regular event which is celebrated by everyone who inhabit the Baptist College site and by other treatment providers and service users in Cardiff and throughout South Wales.Everyone is welcome to join us for our celebrations at 5.30pm on 11th December 2013\, where they can collect their individual stars to place on the Tree of Hope. Visitors are also free to tour the centre\, speak to people who work here and enjoy mince pies and sing Christmas carols. Living Room Cardiff would also like to thank Pugh’s garden centre for their generosity in supplying the beautiful Christmas tree every year. The event culminates with an authentic curry which is the talk of the town.To have a special message inscribed on an individual star of hope\, please call Living Room Cardiff on 029 2049 3895 or email LivingRoom-cardiff@cais.org.uk by 9th December 2013.
