SUMMARY:“No Longer a Diagnosis of Exclusion – working with Personality Disorder and Substance Misuse"
DESCRIPTION:This NewLink Wales course offers a useful and in-depth exploration of Personality Disorder within the context of substance misuse. There has been a lot of debate on these issues over recent years and this session aims to challenge the myths that surround this subject area. The impact of Personality Disorder and substance misuse on teams of professionals will also be explored with the aim of raising awareness of transference issues. \n   \nBy the end of the course participants will have: \n – 1. An understanding of Personality Disorder\, its prevalence and diagnostic criteria – 2. An understanding of the role played by substance misuse in Personality Disorder and how this impacts on treatment – 3. A greater knowledge of how working with Personality Disorder can often lead to conflicts within substance misuse teams – 4. An overview of good practice recommendations for working more effectively with this client group. \n   \nDr Tracy Carlson is a Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist with a particular interest in Personality Disorders. She has vast experience in this area which includes a number of roles working within in-patient secure settings as well as in the community. DESCRIPTION:Working Together to Maximise IncomeFree Turn2us benefits and grants workshop \nTurn2us helps people in financial need gain access to welfare benefits\, charitable grants and other financial help – online\, by phone and face to face through our partner organisations. Turn2us is part of the national charity\, Elizabeth Finn Care. \n   \nEverything you need in one placeThe Turn2us website – www.turn2us.org.uk – brings together an easy to use Benefits Calculator\, Grants Search database giving access to over 3\,000 charitable funds and up-to-date information about benefits\, welfare reform changes\, grants and managing money. Turn2us is also supported by a freephone helpline\, for anyone who cannot access the website. \nFree training in CardiffTurn2us is inviting staff and volunteers from voluntary and community organisations\, local authorities and housing associations\, who offer front line advice\, support or information\, and who are familiar with using the internet to attend a free workshop.
