DESCRIPTION:This Cymorth Cymru course follows the internationally-recognised evidence based Mental Health First Aid Course as licensed by the Welsh Assembly Government. Participants will be issued with a comprehensive manual and on completing the 2 days will be issued with a certificate issued by WAG.   \n  \nThe principal aims of this course are to: \n·         Question and consider what is meant by mental health and illness. \n·         Consider some of the signs and symptoms of common mental health problems including depression\, anxiety disorders and psychosis.  \n·         Raise awareness of some of the historical and psycho-social theories and debates surrounding mental health issues. \n·         Discuss a number of effective interventions and treatments that are currently available. \n·         Raise awareness about how individuals can access help and support. \n·         Encourage self-reflection and awareness for further lifelong learning needs.

The course is accredited by the National Open College Network and successful candidates will receive a NOCN Level 1 progression Award. \nThe course runs from Monday 16 January until Wednesday 14 March 2012. That’s why Putting Wales on the Map: A Day Celebrating the European Year of Volunteering 2011 is such an important event for the sector. \n  \nTaking place on Monday\, 5 December 2011\, at Cardiff City Hall (12pm-4.30pm)\, the event will showcase the amazing work of Wales’ volunteers and voluntary organisations\, while expert speakers\, including Andy Klom of the European Commission in Wales\, will offer their views on volunteering across Wales and Europe.
