SUMMARY:Fuel Poverty Stakeholder Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Community Action Partnership: Working together to tackle fuel poverty in Cardiff\nNational Energy Action Cymru\, the fuel poverty charity which campaigns to ensure everyone in Wales can afford to keep their house warm\, would like to invite you (or a representative) to attend an event to find out more about the support and assistance available to help your clients who may be struggling to pay their energy bills. The event is free to attend but places are limited and based on a first come\, first served basis.  \nNest is the Welsh Government’s Warm Homes scheme. It provides households on low incomes with access to a range of advice and support to help them reduce their energy bills. Since 2011\, over 68\,000 households in Wales have benefited from free advice and support\, and over 17\,700 of those households have benefited from free home energy improvements\, such as a new boiler\, central heating\, and insulation.   \nIn March 2015 the Welsh Government published an independent evaluation report of the Nest scheme. This report identified the marketing and targeting of the scheme to socially excluded groups as an area which needed improving.  The aim of the workshop is to raise awareness of fuel poverty and encourage referrals from Cardiff amongst disadvantaged groups.    \nThe workshop is being organised by NEA Cymru and funded by British Gas as part of the Cardiff Community Action Partnership (CAP)\, a partnership approach to tackling fuel poverty across the City. Whilst almost 1 in 3 households in Wales are living in fuel poverty\, it is the most vulnerable householders who are most likely to be affected.  \nPlease request a programme and confirm your attendance by emailing Alison.powell@nea.org.uk

Last November we held an Equal Pay roundtable to share solutions and initiatives and provide fresh input to tackling the gender pay gap. The WAVE project has undertaken pilot projects to narrow gender pay gaps and colleagues will share some results. \nOur Is Wales Fairer? report highlights the wider employment challenge of pay gaps affecting young people\, ethnic minority and disabled people. \nThe events will provide you with some insight into our work and we will explore your equality objectives relating to the workplace for the next period\, and your Strategic Equality Plans\, to identify opportunities for sharing effective practice. \nIf you would like to register for these events please contact us at wales@equalityhumanrights.com or on 029 2044 7710.

SUMMARY:“Europe Matters to Wales” - Tackling poverty and social exclusion
DESCRIPTION:This free event will look at ways in which European policy and funding might be used alongside Welsh policy and public investments to help tackle poverty and social exclusion as an over-arching Welsh Government priority\, making a positive impact on people’s lives. \nThe Welsh economy and labour market has benefited from billions of pounds of European Structural Funds investment\, and the 2014-2020 programmes for Wales present significant investment opportunities to tackle poverty through sustainable employment. In addition to these investments\, the Minister for Finance and Government Business\, Jane Hutt AM\, appointed three European Funding Ambassadors to increase awareness of and maximise the opportunities of the EU funding streams directly managed by the European Commission. In response to a recommendation of the interim report of the European Funding Ambassadors\, this event will take stock of the all Wales anti-poverty strategy and the synergies between and opportunities of EU and Welsh public funding which can help make a positive difference to people’s lives. \nThe purpose of this event is to: •    bring together key stakeholders to raise awareness of current policy and funding practice within Wales\, placing it in the wider UK and EU context; and•    to provide information about EU funding opportunities that could further support Welsh action to tackle poverty and social exclusion. \nRegister your free place via the WCVA website.

SUMMARY:Wellbeing of Future Generations Act: Looking Forward
DESCRIPTION:Shared learning from the Welsh Local Government Association\, Monmouthshire Council and the Wales Audit Office\nAbout the seminar \nThis seminar draws on the key learning drawn from local government preparation for the Well-being of Future Generations Act that will be of interest across all public services in Wales. The Wales Audit Office has been actively engaged with the WLGA to enhance an understanding of the role of audit in the implementation of the WFG Act. As part of this engagement with the WLGA\, the Wales Audit Office undertook a review of Monmouthshire County Council’s preparedness for the Wellbeing of Future Generations Act. \nThe Wales Audit Office recognises that the WFG Act will be challenging for both public bodies and public audit. In the seminar the WLGA will take the opportunity to share key learning with the wider public sector. The WAO and MCC will use their experience to explore how public bodies can prepare for the challenges that the WFG Act will present\, as well as seize the opportunities it offers. We will also begin a conversation about how public audit may need to do business differently. \nDelegates will also have the opportunity to share their own experience and contribute to a discussion on the future shape of audit. Walking away from this seminar\, delegates will have a better understanding of how public bodies are preparing themselves for the WFG Act. \nWho the seminar is for \nAll public bodies affected by the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act. \nThis seminar is aimed at senior managers and practitioners responsible for: \n\nPolicy and performance\nCorporate planning\nRisk Management\nWorkforce planning\nFinancial Management\nProcurement\nAsset Management\nInternal Audit\nPublic Service Boards\n\nBooking information \nIf you would like to secure a delegate place or if you would like to discuss any aspect of the seminar\, please email good.practice@audit.wales
