DESCRIPTION:A one-day Children in Wales course \nUnderstanding cultural differences is an important component in effective working with families and children. Practitioners and managers can be reluctant to address child welfare concerns because they fear being accused of racism\, intolerance or prejudice. Getting the balance right between cultural sensitivity and making Westernised judgements on child welfare is difficult. \nThe aim of this course is to raise awareness of cultural\, ethnic and religious identities when considering safeguarding issues within asylum seeking\, refugee and migrant families. DESCRIPTION:This is Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan Local Safeguarding Children Board training aimed at those professionals who are likely to participate in Child Protection Conferences\, Child Protection Core Groups or Strategy Meetings\, or who support\, advise or supervise staff who may become involved in the child protection process. \nIt is an expectation that participants will have undertaken introductory level safeguarding children training prior to coming on this course. The LSCB does not provide introductory level training.
