SUMMARY:Planning Personal Futures Using Multimedia
DESCRIPTION:Have you noticed that everywhere you look people are recording their lives with phones and cameras and sharing the videos and pictures instantly with those that they want to?  If society is adopting these methods\, why aren’t we? \n  \nSome organisations are starting to replace traditional paper based recordings with multimedia and have initial approval from the CSSIW to do so.  This workshop is being delivered by one such organisation\, Community Lives Consortium. \nCourse Content This half day workshop will demonstrate how using multimedia for the people we support makes an enormous difference – people take ownership of their information and want to show it off. \nThe session will– Show you how Multimedia can be used to support people to have a say\, record their lives and express their dreams and aspirations in ways which they can take ownership of\, rather than having their lives documented by professionals.– Showcase a range of real life recordings using a wide range of multimedia– give you the chance to get your hands on some equipment and have a go yourselves at recording using multimedia.– emphasise the difference it makes to lives rather than how the technology works.– allow opportunities for questions and comments. \nDesigned for:Anyone who is passionate about how we can encourage people to have their say more effectively and shift the power of recording to the people we support.  This is a taster session so is designed for people who have the drive and resources to implement new ways of working into their organisation. \n  \nAbout the facilitators:This session will be facilitated by staff from Community Lives Consortium who have been providing a 3 day course on this subject\, known as SPICT\, to many of its staff and other agencies across Wales who have reaped the benefits by putting into practice what they have learnt \n  \nBooking & FeesMembers £15Non members £20Parents / Carers/ Person with learning disability £10 \nBooking forms can be located on Learning Disability Wales website: www.learningdisabilitywales.org.uk \nReturned forms should be forwarded to : \nFax: 029 2075 2149Post: Learning Disability Wales\, 41 Lambourne Crescent\, Llanishen\, Cardiff.  CF14 5GG    Email: training@learningdisabilitywales.org.uk   \nIf you have any questions please contact Learning Disability Wales on 029 2068 1174

SUMMARY:Charity Trading: Know the Ropes
DESCRIPTION:If you’re having trouble untangling your concerns about charity trading\, the latest in WCVA’s exciting programme of third sector seminars will really help you out. \n  \nThis seminar – run by Geldards law firm – will guide you through the maze of charity trading concerns.  \n  \nThe day will be split into two sessions:the first session will cover the basics of what constitutes trading\, when trading income would be taxable in the hands of a charity\, and generally why you might set up a trading subsidiary. The second session will then look at how to set up a subsidiary\, the provision of working capital and use of other charity resources\, and the practical issues you will need to deal with. \n  \nThis is a challenging subject but practical examples and simple case studies will be used during the seminar to help both Charity Trustees and staff get to grips with it. There will also be the chance to book a one-on-one appointment with a Geldards expert to discuss your particular charity trading concerns\, and you’ll get to hear all about 3to3\, the third sector’s online marketplace.  \n  \nLunch will be provided. \n  \nSo book your place today\, and you’ll soon be making the grade at trading.
