SUMMARY:Discussion of Oxfam Cymru’s new report: The Welsh Doughnut: A framework for environmental sustainability and social justice
DESCRIPTION:Featuring: (tbc) Kate Raworth (author of the 2012 report ‘A Safe and Just Operating Space for Humanity’ and now Senior Visiting Research Associate\, Environmental Change Institute\, Oxford University) Dr Katherine Trebeck Global Research Policy Adviser (Oxfam)Dr Hayley Richards Policy & Advocacy Officer (Oxfam Cymru) \nIt is a pleasure to invite you to the launch of our new research paper. It explores how Wales measures up against the concept of the ‘doughnut’ – that safe and just space below an environmental ceiling\, but above a social foundation. The picture painted by the Welsh Doughnut is stark. It highlights the immense inequalities experienced by Welsh people across all social domains and in environmental terms\, and tells a story not of scarcity\, but of a society over-consuming its share of the world’s resources. This is clearly not the Wales (or the world) we want. We can and we must change the narrative. This event will be an opportunity for experts and activists from intrinsically related\, but often segregated fields\, to discuss and debate. It will be an opportunity to share ideas and focus on creating new perspectives and more radical policies to deliver a truly sustainable economic model for Wales. Join Oxfam to ensure the future is doughnut shaped! \n RSVP to Hayley Richards hrichards@oxfam.org.uk / 0300 200 1269

SUMMARY:Third sector engagement event on proposed changes to Supporting People services for older people in the Vale and Cardiff
DESCRIPTION:The Welsh Government review of the Supporting People Programme in Wales in 2010 made a recommendation that all Supporting People older persons accommodation services should be based on need and not on tenure. A task and finish group has developed a draft timeline for all Supporting People sheltered accomodation service providers to review their services. \nAs part of this review\, the task and finish group intends to collect data about older people’s needs in the community. The new service models may mean that floating support services\, which help older people maintain independence and prevent homelessness\, may be available in the community. \nVCVS would like to discuss these changes with you. If you would like to attend\, please email linda@valecvs.org.uk

SUMMARY:Regional event to input into the early development of Statutory Guidance for the Well-being of Future Generations
DESCRIPTION:In preparation for the WFG Act\, the Commissioner for Sustainable Futures\, Peter Davies would like to invite you to a series of regional events to input into the early development of Statutory Guidance for the Well-being of Future Generations. This will be an opportunity for you to influence how the Statutory Guidance can support public sector bodies to embed their sustainable development duty. \nThe events running across Wales will also cover future plans for The Wales We Want National Conversation and Sustainable Development Charter as active networks for the new Future Generations Commissioner for Wales. \nHere are the dates: \n 01 May | National Library of Wales Aberystwyth 06 May | Butetown Community Centre\, Loundon Square\, Cardiff  11 May | focused on the Health sector: Waterfront Museum\, Swansea 18 May | Halliwell Centre\, Trinity St. David\, Carmarthen 28 May | Flint Town Hall \n All events will be 10am to 3pm\, with lunch and refreshments provided. Please book your place via eventbrite. \nThe hope is that these events will bring together a mixture of public\, private and third sector organisations to explore how the Statutory Guidance can “guide organisations in how they respond to what they have to do as a results of the Bill.” You are welcome to bring information on case-studies and / or guidance that has (or hasn’t) worked well.  \nAlso attached are links to: \n\nA Welsh Government discussion document on Statutory Guidance for the Bill  \nThe Wales We Want Report \nSustainable Development Charter Annual Report for 2014-15\n\nA full agenda will be circulated closer to the date.
