SUMMARY:Representation\, the Artist and Community: Collective Conversations
DESCRIPTION:Here’s what Representing Butetown says about this free event: \nWe want to create space for community members\, artists\, research artists and researchers working together across the arts\, humanities and social sciences (and no doubt beyond!) who are working collaboratively within a community-focussed context to share why and how they ‘do what they do’. How do you describe your practice? What are some of the challenges of working creatively across arts\, humanities\, social and health sciences in ways which are of practical relevance to community members and groups? How has this enhanced or challenged your practice? Where is the artist in the co-production of artworks and artefacts? Where are the communities you seek to work with?  What happens when researcher and artist want different things? When artist as researcher seeks to work in a community setting to create artwork? \nFind out more and register your free event here.

SUMMARY:Youth social action quality mark consultation event
DESCRIPTION:Generation Change is working on a project to design and pilot a rigorous quality standard and accelerator programme to help youth social action programmes in the UK to improve and demonstrate their outcomes. There is an opportunity to contribute to this important work. \nFocus consultations are being held across the country to gain the insight and steer of peers in the field of youth social action\, whom it is hoped will eventually be able to benefit from and participate in the scheme. \nOn the 1st June there is a consultation in Cardiff with youth social action practitioners to develop an outcomes framework\, which will underpin the quality scheme.  \n  \nAbout the project: \n You can watch a short video on the project here. \nGeneration Change has very good evidence to show that\, when delivered well\, youth social action can have transformative outcomes for young people and communities. But it is currently difficult to know what makes a good programme achieve these outcomes\, and charities involved in offering youth social action do not have the capacity to measure and communicate their impact well. This means that key stakeholders including funders and schools struggle to recognise opportunities as being high quality.  \n Generation Change has united 18 organisations who are committed to improving the impact and recognition of youth social action in the UK. Over the past two years our partnership has helped spearhead a national conversation about the “double benefit” of youth social action. Now\, we are embarking on a three year project to implement a quality standard for organisations that deliver youth social action\, and an accelerator programme to help charities to measure and improve their impact.  \nTo start the project\, Generation Change is designing a framework that captures the shared outcomes we expect from youth social action experiences\, with the support of Dartington Social Research Unit – a charity that has pioneered the field of evidence standards over the last 50 years.  \nPlease RSVP to Gary Fawdrey at gary.fawdrey@generationchange.org.uk \nYou can read more about the quality mark here.

SUMMARY:Free Tenant Support Event
DESCRIPTION:Welsh Tenants’ tenant support event will be of interest to landlords\, housing professionals and community groups & organisations\, and other types of representatives. \nThe event provides you with an excellent opportunity to get involved in community participation\, understand about Welsh Tenants’ position\, and network with other organisations and individuals who are involved in the housing/ policy and legislation/ community/ welfare sector. \nMost services that provide support have been cut by local government and it’s getting harder to have services that work efficiently\, which could have a negative effect on an organisation’s ability to function and being able safeguard those it supports. So what can we do? How can we overcome this? These kind of questions are what we’re asking and more at these events – We want to hear your voice! \nThe event will discuss the future of representation\, advocacy and support and explore what tenant support could look like in the future. \nBook your free place by emailing  Sharon@welshtenants.org.uk
