SUMMARY:Challenging the Narrative - Campaigning to Stop Islamophobia & Discrimination against Muslim Women
DESCRIPTION:The Women’s Equality Network (WEN) Wales\, in partnership with the Muslim Women’s Network UK (MWNUK)\, would like to invite you to attend an event to raise awareness about issues for Muslim women and promote campaigns that challenge prejudice and harmful stereotypes. \nWEN Wales is concerned by evidence which shows that Muslim women are particularly at risk of being targeted for hate crime and often experience high levels of discrimination. Participants should be in work roles providing the opportunity to deliver person-centred care and support. \nThe course is designed to provide an understanding of Person-Centred Care in the context of social care for domiciliary and residential staff. SUMMARY:Motivational Interviewing
DESCRIPTION:Two-day Children in Wales course \nMotivational Interviewing is a refined guidance communication style originating in the counselling field. It aims to guide clients in the process of changing many types of unhealthy behaviours including drugs and alcohol use\, health behaviours like smoking\, eating\, sexual behaviour\, adherence to medication and offending behaviour. MI strategies avoid confrontational methods\, because the aim is to get the client to be the one who presents the arguments for change. \nCentral to MI techniques are a number of person-centred counselling skills including\, open-ended questions\, reflective listening\, affirmations and summarising. However\, while person-centred counselling is mostly non-directive\, in MI these skills are used in a directive way aimed at encouraging clients to explore their ambivalence and consider change. These skills are used selectively to reinforce change talk and encourage clients to verbalise the advantages of change and then plan for it. \nFind out more and book via the Children in Wales website.
