SUMMARY:Using the volunteering impact assessment toolkit
DESCRIPTION:Understand the key principles of impact assessment and be able to use the Volunteer Impact assessment Toolkit so that you can carry out an impact assessment of volunteering in your own organisation or project.  This WCVA course is delivered bilingually\, but the toolkit is published by NCVO and is only available in English. \n\nThe aim of this course is to introduce participants to the key principles of impact assessment and enable them to use the Volunteering Impact Assessment Toolkit to carry out an impact assessment of volunteering in their own organisation or project.\n\n\nContent\n\nDoes my project or organisation make a difference? This is a question asked by you\, your funders\, trustees\, staff\, service users\, volunteers and the community. When volunteers are involved it adds a level of complexity that many approaches don’t take account of. \nThe Volunteering Impact Assessment Toolkit is a way of putting volunteering on the map in your project or organisation\, demonstrating the value of volunteering to the aims of your project or organisation. \nThis one-day course will help you understand the basics of impact assessment; looking at the stakeholders involved\, scoping an assessment\, selecting tools to use\, analyzing information and findings and reporting to different audiences. \nThe toolkit (retail price £42) is included in the price of the course\, and includes access to an internet based resource centre. \nFind out more and book online.

SUMMARY:Review of the Health Board's Strategic Framework for Working with the Third Sector
DESCRIPTION:Cardiff and Vale UHB has been working with partners to review the Strategic Framework for Working with the Third Sectorwhich sets out the UHB’s ambitions for working collaboratively with the Third Sector to enhance the lives of individuals and communities in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. A questionnaire was circulated and structured interviews undertaken to help explore how the UHB and Third Sector can work together to maximise the Third Sector contribution to the UHB Strategy Shaping Our Future Wellbeing\, and what the relationship needs to look like in the future. \nThe next phase of the review will be to bring the findings from this survey work to the annual UHB ‘Keeping in Touch with the Third Sector’ event. This year it will be run as a joint workshop with Glamorgan Voluntary Services (GVS)\, Cardiff Third Sector Council (C3SC) and Cardiff and Vale Action for Mental Health (Cavamh) to allow Third Sector\, UHB and partner colleagues to come together to explore where collaboration is best focused to support delivery of the Shaping Our Future Wellbeing Strategy. \nWe’ll be introducing Shaping Our Future Wellbeing to provide the context for co-productive work to develop the next Strategic Framework priorities.  \nIf you would like to book a place\, please email ceri@GVS.wales. We are really keen to make this as inclusive an event as possible so please do make every effort to attend whether you are from the Third Sector\, the UHB or from a partner organisation who can help contribute to this crucial agenda.

SUMMARY:South Wales Early Intervention Summit
DESCRIPTION:The summit is aimed at strategic decision-makers – Leaders\, Chief Executives and those at Director level.  Applications for those of a lower grade to attend will be considered by exception. \nThe Future Generations Act requires devolved public bodies to work ever more closely together and for both the Commissioner and the Chief Constable to be invited to join the new Public Service Board.  Even though we are not directly required to comply\, we are keen to be involved and to be “early adopters” of the goals set out in the Act.  We believe that it will be mutually beneficial for South Wales Police to be fully engaged from the start and to support you and other partners in achieving the wellbeing of all our communities. \nThe UK Government’s ongoing programme of austerity means that all public services need to “shrink together\, not shrink apart” and to do what we can to intervene early to prevent more costly interventions at a later stage\, and to make prompt and timely interventions as soon as we have identified a problem. \nThat means we want to plan in a way that supports you and our other partners in dealing with the issues our communities face rather than just tackling those issues that affect us directly. We already have some excellent examples of where we have worked together to achieve this. \nWe would like to invite you to our South Wales Early Intervention Summit to explore the ways in which we can work together to achieve this. \nPlease confirm your attendance\, and please include any dietary requirements\, by e-mailing commissioner.staff.officers@south-wales.pnn.police.uk \n\n\n\n\nRt Hon Alun Michael \nPolice and Crime Commissioner for South Wales \n\n\nPeter Vaughan QPM \nChief Constable\, South Wales Police
