DESCRIPTION:This Hafan Cymru training is aimed at practitioners from the voluntary\, statutory and private sectors working in a public facing role. \nWhat’s involved? \nThe aim of the training is to raise understanding of abuse\, enable individuals to recognise the signs of abuse and give practitioners the confidence to know where to signpost those affected for support. \nIt will focus on the following outcomes: \n\nUnderstand what domestic abuse is\nRecognise the signs of domestic abuse\nUnderstand their role in tackling domestic abuse\n\nHow much? £40 \nWhen? DESCRIPTION:This training is for all staff. \nWhat is WRAP? \nWRAP are Workshops to Raise Awareness of ‘Prevent’. Prevent is part of the UK Government’s counter-terrorism strategy\, preventing people from becoming involved in terrorism. \nWRAP 3 Training Objectives: \n\nTo understand Prevents Aim\n\n\nThink about who may be vulnerable to terrorism\n\n\nSee why some people are able to influence and manipulate others to commit crimes\n\n\nRecognise when a vulnerable individual may be in need of your help\n\n\nBe clear on what help and support looks like in this area\, and who you should turn to if you have concerns\n\nHow does WRAP/Prevent link to safeguarding? \nIndividuals who are exposed to extremist views and can become radicalised are people who require support and intervention as vulnerable individuals. \nTo book\, please email scwdp@cardiff.gov.uk\nThese are half-day sessions which run either between 9:30am – 11:30am (AM Session) or 1:30pm – 3:30pm (PM Session).

SUMMARY:Getting to Grips with Children and Family Policy in Wales
DESCRIPTION:‘Getting to Grips’ is a one-day Children in Wales course\, which develops the themes of our highly successful ‘Bigger Picture’ half day workshops we delivered across Wales in December and January\, through funding from the Welsh Government. The course will support people from a wide range of organisations to understand the distinctive Welsh lesiglative and policy framework for children and families\, that has developed as a result of increasing devolution from Westminster. \nThe training will consider current Welsh legislation around children and families\, Welsh Government policy and strategies on issues including how children’s rights are being addressed through  initiatives on child poverty\, health\, social care and education. The course will explore Welsh government programmes including Families First\, Flying Start\, Communities First and Integrated Family Support considering the roles and priorities of different sectors involved in delivering these\, and the challenges faced by everyone. \nLearning Outcomes \nParticipants will:  \n\nGain an overview of the political context and processes that shape policy in Wales\nLearn about Welsh Government policies and strategies relevant to children and young people\nUnderstand the national priorities for children and family services\nExplore how your organisation and key areas of work fit with the main policy areas concerning children\, young people and families.\n\nWho should attend? \nPractitioners\, manager and policy makers from all sectors and all organisations\, keen to explore how their area of work fits in with the bigger picture of child and family policy in Wales.
