SUMMARY:Child Sexual Exploitation
DESCRIPTION:Child sexual exploitation (CSE) involves under – 18′s in exploitative situations\, contexts and relationships.   Every year in Wales hundreds of children are being sexually exploited and in the wake of learning from Rotherham and other cities\, Children in Wales is offering a one day course to raise awareness of Child Sexual Exploitation. \nThis Children in Wales course gives anyone who works with children\, young people and families the opportunity to know their statutory responsibilities in dealing with exploited children\, how to identify children and young people who are at risk of CSE and spot the signs\, definitions and models of CSE and professional responses within the Welsh context. \nThis one day course will consider: \n\nDefinitions of Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE)\nWho is at risk\nWho are the perpetrators\nVulnerabilities and risk indicators\nProfessionals responses\nLegislation and guidance on CSE\nSERAF – the Welsh response to CSE\nConsent\nImpact of CSE on children\, families/carers and siblings\nLessons from Rotherham\nEffective working and partnerships\nPrevention and education\n\nWho the course is aimed at: \nProfessionals and practitioners working with children\, young people and families in social care\, health and education\, other statutory agencies\, voluntary and third sector organisations \nAbout the Trainer: \nCheryl has over 20 years’ experience of working in social care\, in a variety of roles including foster care\, child protection\, youth offending\, equality and diversity and domestic abuse.     Her experience and knowledge of child sexual exploitation comes from her work as a foster carer\, in youth offending and with charitable organisations working with children and young people.  She has been a qualified trainer for 8 years and delivers a variety of training to a wide range of professionals and practitioners.  She is also a qualified counsellor and independent mediator. \nBook via the Children in Wales website.
