SUMMARY:WCVA’s Charity Law and Governance Conference
DESCRIPTION:WCVA has just confirmed the first conference of 2016\, the Wales Charity Law and Governance Conference in partnership with Geldards law firm. \nThe Annual Charity Law and Governance Conference returns to keep you apprised of all the latest legal and regulatory developments. Whether you’re a Trustee\, Chief Executive\, Legal Advisor or Finance or Policy Officer\, whether you wear many hats or just one\, this is the conference to help keep your organisation on track. \nThis year Tesse Akpeki will be talking about ‘Governing Effectively in a Digital Era’ and the role of the Board in promoting digital governance. There will also be a discussion on charities ‘in the glare of critical media attention’\, and a fantastic array of practical breakout sessions to choose from\, including ‘What every trustee needs to know’ (great for new trustees or as a refresher) and ‘The Lobbying Act: what you need to know ahead of the Assembly elections’. \nSee the programme on the WCVA website. \nPut the date in your diary. For more information and to keep up to date with the programme for the day\, register your interest by emailing eventsadmin@wcva.org.uk or call 0800 2888 329.

SUMMARY:Equality and Human Rights Exchange Events - March 2016
DESCRIPTION:Sent on behalf of EHRC/ Anfonwyd ar ran CCHD \nTackling inequalities in the workplace \nWe would like to invite you to attend our next round of Equality and Human Rights Exchange events. These events will be held as follows: \n\n15th March 2016 in Newport\n16th March in Mold\n17th March in Carmarthen\n\nThe Tackling inequalities in the workplace events will focus on: \n\nPregnancy and Maternity Discrimination in the workplace\nPay Gaps\n\nThe Commission will be launching its Pregnancy and Maternity-Related Discrimination and Disadvantage recommendations in February. During the March events colleagues from the EHRC Pregnancy and Maternity project team will share the recommendations so that\, as a network\, we can discuss how these recommendations could be put into practice. \nYou are all\, I am sure\, in the process of finalising your gender pay reports\, and your equality objectives for 2016-2020. Last November we held an Equal Pay roundtable to share solutions and initiatives and provide fresh input to tackling the gender pay gap. The WAVE project has undertaken pilot projects to narrow gender pay gaps and colleagues will share some results. \nOur Is Wales Fairer? report highlights the wider employment challenge of pay gaps affecting young people\, ethnic minority and disabled people. \nThe events will provide you with some insight into our work and we will explore your equality objectives relating to the workplace for the next period\, and your Strategic Equality Plans\, to identify opportunities for sharing effective practice. \nIf you would like to register for these events please contact us at wales@equalityhumanrights.com or on 029 2044 7710.
