SUMMARY:Public engagement: theory and practice
DESCRIPTION:Three-day Participation Cymru training course – other dates: Thursday 10 March and Thursday 14 April \nThis comprehensive\, three-day accredited course is aimed at providing a greater awareness and understanding of participative engagement. Participants will gain a range of skills as well as build confidence in engaging with citizens and the community. Day one will focus on preparing for engagement\, the rationale\, who to engage with and achieving validity in consultation. The group will begin to look at facilitation skills. Day two will look at tools for engagement\, an overview of consultation processes\, and new options using participatory techniques. \nParticipants will learn a range of tools and have the opportunity to put some methods into practice. On day three\, each participant will demonstrate a participatory method as part of their assessment. The rest of the day will focus on evaluating the results and using data from engagement activities. DESCRIPTION:Half-day Children in Wales course \nProblems with food can begin when it is used to cope with those times when you are bored\, anxious\, angry\, lonely\, ashamed or sad. Food becomes a problem when it it used to help you cope with painful situations or feelings\, or to relieve stress\, perhaps without you even realizing it (B-EAT). One in five people diagnosed with anorexia will die from it. SUMMARY:POVA Chairing Skills
DESCRIPTION:This Cardiff Council SCWDP training course is for managers in social care homes/agencies who chair POVA strategy meetings or who are in a position where they might be expected to do so. \nThe aim of this course is to bring together those who chair POVA Strategy meetings to identify and build on the necessary chairing skills to produce good outcomes. \nObjectives \n\nTo identify barriers to the effective chairing of meetings\nTo set out the tasks of the chair before\, during and after meetings\nTo explore the attributes of the effective chair\nTo develop consistency in meetings\nTo build skills for managing the unexpected\n\nA certificate of attendance will be issued to participants who attend the whole session.
