DESCRIPTION:This Learning Disability Wales course will help you understand recent changes to the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) and the need to demonstrate that care arrangements are lawful and correctly authorised. \nClick here to see more information and to make an online booking. \nThis course will enable staff to continue to follow the original intentions of the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) and the Human Rights Act: that people with diminished ability to make decisions should participate as fully as possible\, be able to make important choices where able and that substituted decision making should be both person-centred and fully accountable. \nDesigned for \nManagers and staff in organisations running care homes and supported living schemes for people with a learning disability and autistic spectrum disorders\, particularly staff responsible for: \n\nmaking support arrangements and producing care plans\nliaising with involved professionals and commissioners of services\nproducing agency policies\n\nThis course is also suitable for advocacy staff and others who a need to know about the changes to the law.

SUMMARY:South Wales Tackling Poverty Regional Event
DESCRIPTION:The Minister for Communities and Tackling Poverty Lesley Griffiths AM\, will be attending and speaking at the event. \nThe event will focus on Early Years and Employability through the lens of mental wellbeing. It will be looking at how practitioners and front line staff can guide people in building resilience and developing coping mechanisms to prevent mild to moderate mental health conditions affecting their wellbeing and ability to engage in employment and prosper.  \nPoor mental wellbeing can be a barrier to people entering and / or progressing in employment. Positive early years experiences and supportive home environments\, workplaces and communities have a huge role to play in addressing some of these issues.   \nThe day will focus on practical workshops of what is working in this key area of tackling poverty. \nThe Minister for Communities and Tackling Poverty will explain her long term vision for addressing poverty in Wales and the Welsh Government priorities going forward \nAn agenda will follow closer to the time.
