SUMMARY:Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
DESCRIPTION:CBT is a psychotherapeutic approach to problem solving and reaching goals is future focused – although we seek to understand how past events led the person to where they are now\, the approach is very much about moving on. CBT has a massive evidence base and it allows the practitioner to explore the links between thoughts (cognitions)\, feelings and behaviour – especially if any of these elements are identified as “dysfunctional”. \nCBT is used with a variety of different disorders ranging from mild anxiety and depression to more complex mental health problems such as eating disorders\, complex trauma and psychosis. \nThis training course focuses on the key approaches that are designed to be delivered by key workers as part of their client work sessions.  This model of psychotherapeutic interventions provides evidence based and easily evaluated tools for use by key workers across the drug treatment system and throughout the health and social care sector. \nCourse specification: \nOver this course learners will develop a basic knowledge and understanding around CBT and have the opportunity for practicing skills the preparation for working with and supporting others. \nThe course will include:   \n\nThe relationship between thoughts\, feelings and behaviour\nCBT skills – Assessing the service user\nCBT Skills – Thinking about thinking\nCBT Skills – Replacement Thoughts & Thought Diaries\n5 point case formulation\nThe Therapeutic Alliance\nResistance and Ruptures in the Therapeutic Relationship\nSafeguarding the practitioner\n\nAll of the Newlink Wales courses are designed within National Occupational standards. \nVoluntary Sector Workers – £125.00 Statutory Sector Workers – £135.00 This includes facilitation\, handouts\, refreshments and a buffet lunch.
