Come to one or both!   Understanding and preparing accounts under the new SORP: The new charity SORP (Statement of Recommended Practice) came into effect in summer 2014 and applies to all charities except those that prepare their accounts on a receipts and payments basis.   Protecting your charity from risk and fraud: Helping to make you aware of the ‘danger signs’ and of the sort of controls needed to minimise risks\, this seminar will also provide a refresher on good general and financial risk management. \nFind out more on the WCVA website.

SUMMARY:Person Centred Creativity Training
DESCRIPTION:This 3-day Cardiff Council course is for care/support workers\, seniors\, supervisors and management staff working in social care. No previous experience or training is necessary. Participants do not require any particular artistic ability. \nCourse content: \n\nThe relationship between creativity and well-being\nThe evidence base for innovative working\nExperiential group work\, understanding the process from the recipient’s perspective\nCreating safe environments\nDesigning\, implementing and evaluating creative programmes\n\nLearning outcomes: \n\nUnderstanding the use of intentionality in creative interventions\nUnderstand own role in person – centred planning\nBe able to design creative programmes that promote Active Support\nBe able to facilitate therapeutic group activities\n\nTaught over 3 days\, the course is based on experiential learning with delegates developing a toolkit of practical creative activities that can be used with a wide range of service user/client groups. This is a highly interactive and emotionally engaging learning experience. \nA certificate of attendance will be issued to participants who attend the whole of each 3 days. \nLunch and refreshments will be provided. \nHow to book: \nTraining courses run by Cardiff Council are now only accessible via the ‘Cardiff Council Academy Online on Learning Pool’. Each course participant must have an account on the site in order to make a booking and as managerial authorisation is required for each course booking\, a line manager or training co-ordinator within your organisation must also have an account. SUMMARY:An Overview of the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014
DESCRIPTION:A one-day Children in Wales course \nA focus on children and young people’s issues within the Social Services and Well Being Act (Wales) 2014. \nThe Act\, which came into force in April 2014\, will have a major impact upon all users of social services in Wales.  \n The preamble to the Act describes its purpose as: \n‘An Act of the National Assembly for Wales to reform social services law; to make provision about improving the well-being outcomes for people who need care and support and carers who need support; to make provision about co-operation and partnership by public authorities with a view to improving the well-being of people; to make provision about complaints relating to social care and palliative care; and for connected purposes. \n‘ [1 May 2014]\n This introductory course will provide a comprehensive background to the key principles and intentions of the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014\, whilst also focusing on the main policy issues and the impact upon children\, young people and their families. \nThe programme will cover: \nMorning session \n\nHistorical and policy background to the Act\nWhat is well-being?\nCitizen centred services\nThe outcomes framework\nSocial services functions\nThe changing role of the Third Sector and Social Enterprise\n\nAfternoon session \n\nAssessing and meeting needs of children\, young people and their families\nLooked after and accommodated children and young people\nSafeguarding\nCo-operation and partnership\nAdvocacy\n\nThe course is aimed at anyone requiring knowledge of the intended changes planned under the new Act.
