SUMMARY:Protection of Vulnerable Adults - Conducting Non-Criminal Investigations (POVA Level 4)
DESCRIPTION:  \nThis training is designed for registered managers of residential homes and managers of domiciliary agencies who may be tasked with carrying out a non-criminal investigation under the Wales Protection Forum Policy. It is essential that all participants have attended (or completed previously) the POVA Decision Making and Information Sharing training (Level 3) prior to attending this course. \n(Participants must complete both days to receive a certificate). \nAims: \nTo provide Designated Lead Managers and others (as noted above in target group) who may be tasked with managing the POVA process and practitioners who may be tasked with carrying out a non-criminal investigation under the Wales Adult Protection Forum Policy with the skills required to gather and evaluate evidence\, prepare reports and provide recommendations which inform the multi-agency POVA decision making processes. \nObjectives: \nAt the conclusion of the course participants will be able to demonstrate an understanding of \n\nScope and purpose of an a POVA non-criminal Investigation\nHow to plan AND conduct  a POVA non-Criminal Investigation\nThe importance of gathering\, preserving and not contaminating evidence\nAppropriate interview and recording skills\nHow to evaluate evidence and prepare report on findings\n\nThe purpose of a final Strategy Meeting / Case Conference and what needs to be achieved. \nCourse facilitator: Kevin Jones – Independent Adult Protection Consultant and Trainer \nPlease note: Training courses run by Cardiff Council are now only accessible via the ‘Cardiff Council Academy Online on Learning Pool’. Each course participant must have an account on the site in order to make a booking and as managerial authorisation is required for each course booking\, a line manager or training co-ordinator within your organisation must also have an account. DESCRIPTION:WHAT’S GOING ON? \nOn 8th September this year EE will be holding its second National Techy Tea Party Day\, a nationwide event with Techy Tea Parties held across all EE stores\, offices and contact centres. \nTechy Tea Parties show people how they can benefit from being connected\, make the most of their devices and aims to inspire them to give the internet a go. EE want charities\, businesses and communities to help them build the nation’s digital skills. Last year over 2\,100 EE volunteers helped more than 6\,000 people take their first steps online. \nThis year EE are aiming to encourage over 10\,000 people to join their Techy Tea Parties working with key partners Royal Voluntary Service and Job Centre Plus. \n  \nMAKING TECHNOLOGY A PIECE OF CAKE \nCome to an EE Techy Tea Party and they’ll give you the down-to-earth help you need to build your confidence with today’s technology. \nWe know a lot of people find today’s technology a bit of a struggle\, so we’ve partnered with EE National Techy Tea Party Day. Come along to an EE store where friendly staff will be on hand to help you go through the basics over a cup of tea and a biscuit. \nTECHNOLOGY EXPLAINED WITH NO JARGON AND A NICE CUP OF TEA. HOW REFRESHING. \nOn 8th September EE National Techy Tea Party Day will be held across all stores in partnership with Royal Voluntary Service to help the nation get connected. EE staff will be on hand between 9:30am and 11:00am to show you how technology can help you stay in touch with friends and family\, make the most of hobbies and interests like travel and access important services without having to waste time on the phone. \nEveryone who comes will get to spend time with a member of the EE team who’ll answer questions without using jargon and help to build your confidence with technology. You can also bring any of your own phones\, laptops or equipment if you’d like to learn more about them.
