SUMMARY:Building Resilience in Young People
DESCRIPTION:A one-day Children in Wales course \nWhy do some young people cope with difficulties more easily than others? What factors really make a difference to how we deal with adversity? What can practitioners do to make a difference? This one-day course explores how you can develop an approach that builds on strengths to help young people deal with adversity\, cope with change\, survive disappointment and manage crises. It will draw upon practice\, research and theory. DESCRIPTION:This Participation Cymru course is accredited by Agored Cymru and aims to enable learners to understand how to use a ‘Shared Power’ engagement model in project work.\n\nParticipants will have an opportunity to build on their existing skills and knowledge in Public engagement by exploring in more depth the higher levels of engagement i.e. Shared Power and Citizen Control. The course offers knowledge\, skills\, tools and reflective practice to enable practitioners to put into practice these higher levels of engagement. DESCRIPTION:The next Cardiff Health and Social Care Network event is taking place on Tuesday 30 June from 10am to 1pm at Butetown Community Centre. \nCome along if you are working in this field and want to keep up to date with the most significant policy and service-based developments that are likely to impact on your organisation. \nThe event will include: \n\nA conversation with Maria Battle\, Chair of Cardiff and Vale University Health Board\, who is keen to discuss both common issues facing her organisation and its third sector partners\, within a context of rapid financial and policy changes\, as well as public and provider perceptions of current Cardiff and Vale UHB services and their priorities.\nAn overview of the achievements and future work priorities of the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board Substance Misuse Area Planning Board from Conrad Eydmann\, Head of Substance Misuse Strategy and Development.\nA presentation from Matthew Coffin of Age Connects (Cardiff) regarding the organisation’s current work on an Activities Directory for the 50+ age group and the Health and Active Partnership Pilot Project.\nAn opportunity to learn about the key changes that have recently been made to the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board Strategic Framework for Working with the Third Sector 2015-16 and the implications of this across the City\, which will be facilitated by David Poole\, Operations Manager at Cardiff Third Sector Council.\n\nWe very much hope you can join us for what promises to be a very useful event\, which will give you access to some of the key decision-makers working in the field.
