DESCRIPTION:his 2-day WCVA Participation Cymru course focuses on presentation skills and dealing with difficult situations and behaviours. Participants will learn how to prepare for a public event\, how to give an effective presentation\, conveying the information the audience wants to know using appropriate communication styles\, and explores techniques for dealing with challenging issues and situations. \nOn day 2 of the course (14 May) you will be required to prepare and deliver a presentation and will receive feedback from the tutor and other learners. \nFind out more and book online via the WCVA website.

SUMMARY:Autism Awareness
DESCRIPTION:This Cardiff Council module is targeted at anyone who support/come into contact with adults on the autism spectrum and help to develop understanding of the condition. \nThis course is designed for practitioners new to the field of autism. Participants will be introduced to basic concepts and theories relating to Autism Spectrum Disorders. The notion of autism as a spectrum disorder will be explored along with biological\, psychological and behavioural aspects of the condition. The workshop will introduce practical approaches alongside theoretical principles. It will be interactive with opportunities for discussion and questions. \nOn completion of this course learners will: \n\nRecognise the main characteristics of behaviour for people on the autism spectrum\nUnderstand the triad of impairment\nUnderstand the range of the spectrum\nAppreciate the particular differences of understanding language with people on the autism spectrum\nUnderstand the need to backup spoken language visually to help understanding\nAppreciate the importance of routine and predictability for people on the autism spectrum\nUnderstand the complexity of social interaction\nAppreciate the sensory differences of people on the autism spectrum\n\nA certificate of attendance will be issued to participants who attend the whole session. DESCRIPTION:This is a partnership event between the Arts Council of Wales\, Cult Cymru and Tocyn. \nCULT Cymru is a partnership between the unions BECTU\, Equity\, the Musicians’ Union and the Writers’ Guild\, it provides training\, networking opportunities\, advice and support to people in the creative industries. Staff will be available throughout the day to discuss your career needs. www.cultcymru.org \nAnd\, do you also want to find out more about alternative fundraising opportunities? Tocyn and ZEQUS will be running half hour coffee clinics on crowdfunding in the arts\, and how to maximise and build audience relationships during the fundraising process. Contact adam@tocyn.org to book a place. \nThis event also enables individuals and organisations to discuss their project ideas with Arts Council of Wales staff and make general funding enquiries. Attendees must book a 40 minute slot to discuss possible projects with our Information Officers.
