DESCRIPTION:Half-day training with Diverse Cymru\nThe aim of this workshop is to increase awareness of issues faced by Transgender people and reduce any fear or concerns when engaging with a person who is going through or has gone through transition to their correct gender. \nLearning Outcomes \nBy the end of the workshop you will be able to: \n\nUnderstand the difference between Gender Identity\, Gender Expression\, Biological Gender and Sexual Orientation\nUnderstand why it is important to use appropriate and non offensive terminology\nAssess the impact of stereotypes\, prejudice and discrimination \nChallenge common myths and misconceptions about Transgender people \nRecognise the legal rights of Transgender people in employment and as customers.\nReduce and eliminate fear of employing Transgender People.\nUnderstand the ‘Transition Pathway’\, the importance of integration and employment\, and how the well-being and health of a Transgender person may be affected.\n\nThis ½ day course costs £70 per attendee and includes refreshments\, all course materials and a certificate of attendance. \nFind out more on the Diverse Cymru website.  \n

SUMMARY:Free webinar: Reforming local government: power to the people
DESCRIPTION:On 3 February 2015 the Minister for Public Services\, Leighton Andrews AM\, published a White Paper which set out the Welsh Government’s ambitious plans for the future of Local Government in Wales. \n The White Paper contains Welsh Government’s proposals for local democracy\, including the roles of elected members and senior officers\, community governance and community councils\, as well as scrutiny and audit. \n The White Paper also looks to the third sector in a number of areas\, including as a source of community activists who could contribute to local democracy\, and as partners in community governance and supporting greater connections with communities. \n This webinar will provide delegates with opportunities: \n\nto hear from Welsh Government about their intentions for Local Government\nto consider the implications of the White Paper for the third sector in Wales\nto help shape WCVA’s response on behalf of the third sector\n\nTo register email eventsadmin@wcva.org.uk
