SUMMARY:Creative Care Planning
DESCRIPTION:A NewLink Wales training course \nThere’s a vast amount of evidence showing that a good care plan can significantly improve outcomes for people who have substance misuse problems. However\, many practitioners and service users have become disillusioned with this process and often see it as a tokenistic paperwork exercise. It doesn’t have to be! SUMMARY:Free Mental Health Awareness training
DESCRIPTION:Facilitated by Cardiff Mind and organised by Cardiff Council\, this one-day course is for staff and volunteers working in social care. \nThe learning outcomes of the course are: \n\nParticipants will be able to identify the differences between mental health and mental illness\nParticipants will be able to recognise signs and symptoms of mental illnesses\nParticipants will have a broader understanding of depression\, anxiety disorders\, self-injury and psychosis\nParticipants will be introduced to the Recovery Model and will gain a better understanding of its context\nParticipants will be introduced to methods of communication with people who are mentally unwell\nParticipants will be asked to consider their own mental wellbeing and how to stay safe\n\nA Certificate of Attendance will be issued to participants who attend the whole session. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

SUMMARY:Drugs\, Housing & Homelessness
DESCRIPTION:The Shelter Cymru course highlights the linked problems of increased levels of drug use amongst people who are homeless\, the associated risks this poses\, and the barriers to services for people in this situation. DESCRIPTION:Join WCVA and the British Institute of Human Rights in Cardiff for the next instalment of BIHR’s evening events to discuss some of the most commonly reported human rights stories\, as they go Beneath the Headlines.
