SUMMARY:Care & Repair Annual Conference
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \nThe time to be creative and innovative in delivering community and public services in Wales has never been greater in an increasingly challenging economic climate. But we should never lose sight of our values and the people our services support.  We need to deliver more and better community and public services with less resources for the benefit of older people. At the heart of the Care & Repair service are people – both clients and staff who deliver the service. \nFind out more and book your place via the Care & Repair website. \n

SUMMARY:Getting People Talking
DESCRIPTION:This very practical course is intended to help people who facilitate meetings\, involvement events\, discussion or focus groups\, seminars or workshops to create the conditions that will enable people to contribute and find the whole experience rewarding. \n  \nWhy attend? \nHave you ever left a meeting or event wishing more people had spoken up about an issue or concern? Various reasons can prevent people from doing so. As a facilitator you want all participants to feel that they were able to make a worthwhile contribution.  Very often more is required than just saying ‘feel free’ to speak up\, or saying ‘what do you think?’ \nThe course has lots of practical tips for how to encourage people to say what is on their minds. \nSimilarly some people are excluded from events (for example disabled people\, older people and people from ethnic minorities) because their different needs are not taken into account in how the meeting is run. \nThe course will give you lots of ideas about how to organise and run accessible and inclusive meetings in ways that enable all the people present to be involved\, so that meetings are more creative\, productive and enjoyable.  \nWho should attend? \nIf you facilitate or chair meetings\, involvement events\, discussion or focus groups\, seminars or workshops where it is important that participants do some or most of the talking\, and wish to learn how to maximise people’s contribution\, this course is for you. \n  \nFind out more on the Diverse Cymru website.

SUMMARY:Next Cardiff Children\, Young People and Families Network meeting
DESCRIPTION:During the meeting\, we will be welcoming Councillor Sue Lent to discuss the priorities for her new portfolio at Cardiff County Council – Cabinet Member for Early Years\, Children and Families. \nWe will also be joined by Simon Morris\, Achievement Leader (Youth Support Services)\, Cardiff Council Education Department. Nick Corrigan\, Co-Chair of CCYPFN\, will lead a discussion on key consultation opportunities\, and you will have the opportunity to vote on who will represent Cardiff’s Third Sector at the following strategic meetings: \n–        Family and Young People’s Programme Board \n–        Cardiff Council Youth Service – Service Transformation Project Team \nNetwork meetings will be the only place where decisions will be made about who will represent members\, and to decide on which consultation topics affecting our members and the wider third sector C3SC we should prioritise for presenting our views to decision-makers. It is vital that members attend to ensure we get a strong voice at the decision making tables. \nFind out more about the Cardiff Children\, Young People and Families Network.
