DESCRIPTION:FULLY BOOKEDIncluding evening Funding Advice Drop-in \nC3SC’s Third Sector Symposium is a chance for third sector organisations of all sizes to get together with Cardiff Council and other stakeholders. \nThe symposium will look at sustainability within the third sector here in Cardiff and we will also be reviewing the sector’s role in tackling poverty. \nWith presentations\, funding advice and workshops on how to sustain your organisation: whilst continuing to meet the needs of your service users. \nThe symposium takes place from 1.30-4.30pm and C3SC members are invited to attend a funding drop-in event from 4:30-6.30pm. \nYou can download the agenda here.

SUMMARY:Supporting Parents to Talk to Their Children About Growing Up\, Relationships and Sex
DESCRIPTION:A one-day Children in Wales course \nChildren and young people consistently say that they would like to be able to talk more with their parents about these issues. Parents also would like support and information to enable them to do this with comfort and confidence. \nThe range of issues presented by parents can vary enormously\, from responding to questions from young children\, to dealing with changes at puberty\, to supporting teenagers make decisions around their sexual health\, identity and relationships.  \nThis one-day course will be useful for anyone who works with parents including: Parent Group facilitators\, Early Years workers\, Health Visitors\, Parenting workers\, Teachers and Volunteers supporting parents etc. \nAim \nFor Parenting Practitioners to develop their skills and knowledge\, and to work more confidently in supporting parents and carers to communicate with their children about sex and relationships. \n  \nObjectives  \nBy the end of the course participants will: \n – Be provided with relevant factual information including: the law\, puberty and resources to support them in their work  – Have considered the sex and relationship educational needs of children and young people\, and how parents can support these  – Identified strategies to support parents and carers to talk more confidently to their children about sex  – Practised skills in responding to parents’ concerns and questions relating to sex and relationship education  \nA variety of training methods will be used throughout the day. These will include trainer presentations\, discussions\, quizzes\, creative activities\, time for reflection and structured exercises. The main focus of the programme is for practitioners to develop the confidence and skills to pro-actively work with parents in this area. A selection of resources to support this work with parents will be available for attendees to use and review on the day.

In a time of austerity can your organisation afford not to be making the most of its Information Technology?  \n  \nBenefits of attending  \nThe Wales Audit Office\, WLGA and Good Practice Wales are holding a free\, interactive seminar to bring together the most up-to-date practices from across Wales and beyond. Delegates will share and learn different approaches to Information Technology. By the end of the seminar\, delegates will be able to select from and adapt approaches to suit their own IT management needs\, enabling them to achieve more with less.  \n  \nThe seminar will consist of two showcase plenary sessions:  \n – Moving to external storage.
