SUMMARY:Motivate/Work RITE training
DESCRIPTION:The one-day ISSA Wales training covers the following topics: \n  \n – Negative/Positive Thinking – Motivation – Team Work – Communication  – Work Readiness \n  \nThe training aims to motivate the participant to make small and manageable changes (with support) to make them more employable and work ready. The participant will also be invited to use our drop-in and will have opportunities to meet with other organisations and access local community resources. \nThe criteria for the participants are – any offender who is BME or from a Muslim background who has been involved with the CJS with in the last 6 months or is on probation.

SUMMARY:Practical participatory tools for public engagement
DESCRIPTION:Aim: \nTo explore and practice a number of participative techniques that can be used in face to face engagement activity.   \nContent:   \nThis Participation Cymru course offers the opportunity to learn and practice a number of participative techniques that can be used in face to face engagement activity. These tools can be used in many different settings and are easily translated from one context to another. They offer the practitioner some new tools for their engagement work and the practical experience of trying them out within a safe context.   \nLearning outcomes: By attending this course you will be able to … \n – Describe the principles of effective Public Engagement  – Plan effective participative events  – Apply different participative techniques to different situations  – Use an essential ‘Public Engagement toolkit’ of techniques and processes  – Know where to access additional resources \nLearning Objectives:  \n – Explain the Principles of Effective Public Engagement  – Idenfify issues needing to be considered in the planning of a participative event  – Identify appropriate methods of participation to be used in particular contexts  – Provide an opportunity to practice participative tools in a safe environment  – Share experiences with other participants \n  \nWho is this course for? SUMMARY:Working with Personality Disorder and Substance Misuse
DESCRIPTION:This NewLink Wales course offers a useful and in-depth exploration of Personality Disorder within the context of substance misuse. There has been a lot of debate on these issues over recent years and this session aims to challenge the myths that surround this subject area. The impact of Personality Disorder and substance misuse on teams of professionals will also be explored with the aim of raising awareness of transference issues. \nBy the end of the course you will have: \n – 1.An understanding of Personality Disorder\, its prevalence and diagnostic criteria – 2.An understanding of the role played by substance misuse in Personality Disorder and how this impacts on treatment – 3.A greater knowledge of how working with Personality Disorder can often lead to conflicts within substance misuse teams – 4.An overview of good practice recommendations for working more effectively with this client group \nPrice – voluntary sector workers: £135
