DESCRIPTION:FREE and for all the family \nA day packed with arts\, crafts and performances from around the world\, school and community exhibitions plus historical talks and workshops.   \nThe day has been put together by the African Partnership Group made up of over 15 grass root organisations that aim to break down barriers\, challenge perceptions and enable cross cultural understanding via culture and heritage learning activities.    \nBlack History Month in Wales acknowledges the contribution made by Black people to local\, national and world history and culture by delivering an informative educational and celebratory programme annually during the month of October. SUMMARY:‘Keeping The Art of Braiding Alive’ Exhibition Launch
DESCRIPTION:To celebrate the opening of the ‘Keeping The Art of Braiding Alive’ exhibition\, there will be a launch involving members of the project demonstrating braiding and talking about their experience of being involved in the project.  Members of the public will get the opportunity to learn about the art of braiding and have a go at it themselves. \nThe launch is a free event open to all members of the public  \nTo confirm attendance at the launch email – Leona@cherub-braids.co.uk \nThe exhibition is taking place from Saturday 20th October to Friday 26th October and explores the history of braiding\, its importance for the community and sees young people’s work come to life.

SUMMARY:Introduction to Carribean Dance
DESCRIPTION:Celebrating Black History Month \nThis workshop will allow you to explore the basic language of specific Trinidadian folk dances that fall into these categories\, including the Bele Pique\, Bongo and Limbo\, and carnival dance. \nADEOLA\, is a Trinidadian artist\, dancer and researcher. Adeola has been a Caribbean Dance Workshop leader and performer for several events\, including BVSNW Black Voluntary Service Network Wales’ Black History Month event (2007 and 2008)\, Theatr Fforwm Cymru Carnival Arts at Youth Agora (2006)\, Cardiff Mind (Sept-Oct2007)\, YMCA Carnival dance Workshop (2007) and BAWSO Women’s Aid\, International Women’s Day  Event (2007)\, UWIC Caribbean Folk Dance Workshop (2007). She has also worked in the capacity of carnival dancer\, character performer\, tutor\, maker within the Cardiff Mas Carnival (SWICA since 2005) and\, in October 2007\, conducted a Caribbean Folk Dance session at Rubicon Dance. \nFind out more about Black History Month here.
