DESCRIPTION:In April\, the Home Office launched the Destitution Domestic Violence (DDV) Concession\, where women on a spousal visa who are destitute and have experienced domestic violence can apply for access to public funds while they complete an application for Independent Leave to Remain in the UK. \nHosted by the Abolish No Recourse to Public Funds Campaign\, this seminar will discuss the conditions of the DDV Concession and how it will impact on organisations who work with women with no recourse to public funds. Invited speakers include representatives from the UK Border Agency (UKBA)\, Department for Work and Pensions. \nTo book a place at the seminar\, please email Mwenya@bawso.org.uk

SUMMARY:Protecting your charity from risk and fraud
DESCRIPTION:The vast majority of people working in the voluntary sector are honest and committed. However\, charities are not exempt from fraudulent activity – as is evident from recent press reports. It is therefore vital that organisations know what the dangers are and put in place sensible measures to prevent or detect fraud. \nThis WCVA seminar will help make you aware of the ‘danger signs’ and of the sort of controls needed to minimise risks. It will also provide a refresher on good general and financial risk management. \nThis seminar is hosted by Watts Gregory\, chartered accountants and business advisors. \nLunch will be provided before the seminar.
