DESCRIPTION:  \nBACKGROUND: \n  \nSupport Planning is one of the primary tools used in housing related support. Under Supporting People emphasis is placed on accurate needs assessments\, the quality of support plans and the involvement of service users to ensure they receive a service that reflects their needs.   \n   \n  \nTARGET GROUP: \n  \nThis course is intended to benefit: \n ·   New line managers in supported housing \n ·   Those who wish to review and improve their support planning processes \n  \n  \nCOURSE AIMS: \n The principal aim of this course is to equip participants with the knowledge and confidence to implement effective support planning in their organisations. \n  \n  \n COURSE CONTENT: \n By the end of the course\, participants should: \n ·   Understand how support planning fits within the Supporting People Framework \n ·   Describe the principles underpinning support planning within the current social and political context \n ·   Identify the role of the support worker within the support planning process \n ·   Identify barriers to participation and how these can be overcome \n ·   Develop a person-centred\, outcomes approach to support planning  \n ·   Understand the benefits of support planning to the organisation\, support workers and service users \n   \n  \nORGANISATIONAL BENEFITS: \n ·   Managers aware of good practice in this area \n ·   Organisation clear of Supporting People requirements regarding support planning \n ·   End result of service users achieving their goals \n   \n  \nThe course will include refreshments. DESCRIPTION:The purpose of this conference is to: \n – Highlight the contribution Somali people make in Wales – Discuss Islam and its positive values – Discuss the main barriers facing the Somali community\, particularly the young people – Explore ways to build more effective partnerships to achieve joined up working – Explore ways to improve community relations and social cohesion \nKey activities include: \n – Renowned guest speakers including key politicians and community representatives \nPresenting a community work plan (Road Map) developed within the community \n – Viewing of the “Challenging Extremism” video – Workshops on education\, training & employment\, community safety and family/women issues – Panel discussion \nThe event is supported by Cardiff Somali Community Organisations\, Ethnic Minority Communities First\, Cardiff County Council and the Welsh Government.
