SUMMARY:Assertiveness Skills
DESCRIPTION:This 1 day course delivered by Welsh Womens Aid will define assertiveness and help participants understand the implications of using non-assertive behaviour in various situations. Human rights issues and barriers to using assertiveness techniques will be identified. \nBy the end of the day delegates will understand the influence that peer pressure has on individual behaviour and learn practical assertiveness techniques\, leading to the creating of an action plan to implement the techniques. \nCosts:WWA members £65 per day\, non-members £100 per day10% discount offered when 3 or more places are booked

DESCRIPTION:Barnardo’s Neville Street Interpreter Service is facilitating a workshop ‘How to Work with Interpreters’. The course is designed for professionals who need to work with interpreters to enable effective communication with non-English speaking clients/service users. \n The course covers: – How to brief an interpreter prior to an appointment – Expectations of an interpreter – Time allowance for interpretation – The Do’s and Don’ts when working with an interpreter – Demonstration on how to work with an interpreter – The importance of clear communication and using a trained interpreter \n  \nIf you are interested in this workshop for members of your staff group but can’t do the advertised date\, a package can be tailored to meet your organisation’s specific needs.
