DESCRIPTION:Dealing with financial realities – everyone’s agenda \nAt a time of record levels of personal debt\, public sector spending cuts\, and sweeping welfare benefit changes\, the need to prioritise financial inclusion throughout services is increasingly urgent. \nThis event will examine strategies and practical ideas for housing managers\, advisers\, tenants and service users to deal with financial problems and planning. \nIt will highlight examples of current good practice as well as providing opportunities for delegates to build new partnerships that will be of benefit to all. \nWorkshops and speakers will include: \n – Shelter Cymru’s debt work in your area – The work of the Illegal Money Lending Unit to tackle loan sharks – Effective Housing Benefit mitigation projects from across wales and the wider UK – Information on  the next challenges for people on low incomes – council tax\, universal credit\, bedroom tax appeals – Credit unions and other alternatives – Service user engagement – what works and how to incorporate successful methods into your organisation \nSupported by Coastal Housing Group Limited.
