SUMMARY:Reducing Home Accidents in Early Years - Effective Interventions
DESCRIPTION:Every year in Wales\, around 15\,000 children under the age of 5 attend Emergency Departments as the result of an accident at home. These accidents often result in serious and disabling injuries and importantly\, the majority of them are preventable. \nThis one-day Children in Wales course draws on research and evidence-based interventions to help practitioners understand and address preventable home accidents. The course will focus on preventing fatal\, serious and disabling injuries. \n Course Content \nThis participative course will include:The identification of who is most at risk and whyEffective interventionsInterventions in practiceIdeas and resources for prevention.   \nWhat Will You Learn \nAt the end of the course\, practitioners will have the skills and knowledge to identify who is most at risk\, which interventions are effective in reducing home accident for the under 5s and how to go about it. \n   Who Should Attend \nEverybody has a role to play in reducing the numbers of children who are injured through home accidents and this course will be of benefit to those working within the children’s sector\, including:Health VisitorsHealth Promotion practitionersMidwivesCommunity Safety PartnershipsFlying StartFamilies FirstSocial ServicesChildren and Young People’s PartnershipsPolicy Makers Managers \n   \nPrice: Members £80   Non-members £100 \n  This course is also offered as in-house training.
