SUMMARY:Live music in The Cardiff Story Museum to celebrate Black History month
DESCRIPTION:To celebrate Black History month this year\, The Cardiff Story Museum is organising an exciting afternoon of live music in its galleries on Saturday 26th October\, from 1-5pm. Kicking off this music extravaganza at 1pm will be the band Dirty Alex who will showcase the diversity of blues\, soul and funk.   \nCanton Community Choir and friends will be performing chants originating in parts of Africa as well as the finale song from the National Theatre Wales production of De Gabay. \nThe local super talented Lily Beau will be doing a special set. Talking about her contribution to this event Lily Beau says: “I am a fourteen year old singer/ songwriter and love any opportunity I get to perform. I am hugely influenced by Etta James\, Beyonce\, Emeli Sande and many more modern and classic artists. I am hoping to pursue music as a career and continue sharing and playing my music for the rest of my life. I’m really looking forward to supporting The Cardiff Story Museum celebrate Black History month.” \nNot only will visitors get the chance to listen to music but they also have the opportunity of taking part as Dirty Alex will be offering an introductory workshop to blues\, soul and funk and are encouraging people to bring their own instruments along to jam with the band. Booking is required to attend the workshop. \nThis event forms part of an exciting and thought provoking programme of events and activities entitled ‘Unity through Music: the Rhythm of the Diaspora’ taking place across Wales through-out October in celebration of Black History Month Wales 2013.
