DESCRIPTION:An active and practical\, 1 day course for all health and childcare workers. Equipping you with the knowledge\, skills and tools to build Language and Communication in your Early Years settings. Enabling you to give children the best possible start. \nWhat will you learn? \nWhat you’ll learn: \n\nAcquire core strategies for developing interaction and language skills for all children in your setting.\nDevelop your confidence and knowledge of speech\, language and communication development in children aged 0-5\nDiscover the normal stages of speech and language development\nIdentify when to be concerned about a child\nLearn how to describe their difficulties and how to make a referral to the Speech and Language Therapy Service\nDevelop an Action Plan\, to support a specific child you work with\nGain the confidence to discuss a child’s difficulties with their parents/ carers and other professionals.\n\nHow you’ll learn: \nYou’ll be actively involved in the learning process using: \n\nVideo footage with real life examples of strategies in use\nPractical tasks to reinforce learning\nSmall group work\nDiscussion of real life events from your setting with support in problem solving\nRole Play\nDetailed handout for all participants.\n\nWho should attend? \nAnyone working in early years settings. \nThis course is free of charge as funded by Families First Cardiff. \nTo register\, please email or call: Sarah Tucker  Sara.Tucker@wales.nhs.uk (029) 20 907645\, or Alison.Brain2@wales.nhs.uk  02920 907645
