DESCRIPTION:Joint Action towards the Implementation of the European Commission \nRecommendation on Child Poverty & Wellbeing \nSharing Information Across the UK \nKeynote speaker: \nBaroness Gillian Shephard – Deputy Chair of the UK  Social Mobility and Child Poverty Commission \nTarget Audience: \nPolicy\, planning and strategy leads in the Public Sector\, Voluntary & Community organisations from Wales\, Scotland\, England and Northern Ireland \nAt a time when more than 3.5 million children in the UK face poverty and social exclusion\, the UK Alliance for Investing In Children is pushing for full implementation of the European Commission Recommendation “Investing in Children – Breaking the Cycle of Disadvantage” within the UK. \nThis event will highlight areas of good practice in tackling child poverty from across the UK\, and discuss how to take the child poverty agenda forward in the future\, thereby improving the quality of life of children and young people in the UK and Europe. \nThe UK Alliance is part of a wider Joint Action led by the EU Alliance for Investing in Children coalition and is made up of partners from Children in Wales\, Children in Scotland\, Children England and Children in Northern Ireland. \nConfirmed speakers at the conference will include: \nBaroness Gillian Shephard – Deputy Chair of the UK Social Mobility & Child Poverty Commission \nLesley Griffiths – Minister for Communities and Tackling Poverty\, Welsh Government \nMaurice Leeson – Professional Advisor to Children and Young People’s Strategic Partnership in Northern Ireland \nJohn Dickie – Head of Child Poverty Action Group in Scotland \nGwyther Rees – Visiting Associate\, Social Policy Research Unit\, University of York Jana Hainsworth – Secretary General\, Eurochild \nWe have also invited the following speaker: \nHugh Frazer – Coordinator of the EU Network of Experts on Social Inclusion \nCOST: \n£60 for members of Children in Wales\, Children in Scotland\, Children England and Children in Northern Ireland and £75 for Non-members \nFind out more and book your place via the Children in Wales website.
