SUMMARY:Introduction to Safeguarding Children - half-day training
DESCRIPTION:This Cardiff Council training course is for volunteers who work directly with children and young people and who make referral through third party\, who are not likely to attend strategy meetings or child protection conferences. \nAIMS \n\nTo provide an introduction to safeguarding children practice\nTo provide an opportunity to ask questions and raise issues\n\nOBJECTIVES \n\nbe aware of the Local Authority duty to investigate and other agencies’ duty to assist\nbe able to define the 4 categories of child abuse\, and will have explored signs and indicators across the categories of abuse\nknow how to respond when they think a child may be in need or suffering abuse\, including differences relating to consent\nbe aware of the Local Safeguarding Children Board functions\nbe aware of the risk factors for children that may be associated with adult carers\nhave explored the need and reasons for information sharing\nunderstand the importance of listening to children and how to deal with disclosures\, including recognising the limits to confidentiality\nunderstand their role in protecting children\, and recognise their on-going responsibility\nbe aware of the child protection process\, how to make a referral and where to find the relevant forms to use\nknow how to access advice if unsure of what steps to take\n\nFacilitator: Michelle Godfrey\, Lead Training and Development Officer A certificate of attendance will be issued to participants who attend the whole session.  \nTo book your place and find out more\, email scwdp@cardiff.gov.uk
