SUMMARY:Improving UK Occupational Health and Safety: Protecting Human Rights and Ensuring Healthy Work Environments
DESCRIPTION:Improving UK Occupational Health and Safety: Protecting Human Rights and Ensuring Healthy Work Environments \nCentral London \nTuesday 10th September 2019 \nEvent Details  Event Brochure  Website  Register to Attend \nHealth and Safety Executive statistics show that each year\, over a million workers are injured or made ill by their work in the UK (2018). In 2017\, the total costs of workplace injuries and ill health to the UK economy was £15 billion\, and 15.4 million working days were lost due to work related stress\, depression or anxiety (MHFA 2018). Not only are employees experiencing work-related ill health\, but also many UK workers are subject to inadequate working conditions. A recent Unite the Union study discovered that tens of thousands of workers across the UK are either not provided with proper toilets or have restrictions placed upon them in using facilities. \n In view of these challenges\, this symposium will offer health and safety practitioners\, HR professionals\, local authorities and other key stakeholders with a timely and invaluable opportunity to scrutinise current health and safety regulations and develop priorities for delivering enhanced protections in British workplaces. \n Delegates Will: \n\nDiscuss the effects of poor mental health on employees and making mental health a policy priority\nConsider the role of local authorities and the HSE as enforcers and regulators\nLearn how to support smaller businesses’ and self employed workers’ health and safety rights\nShare ways to simplify risk management and reduce the contributors to work related ill health\nIdentify ways for businesses to provide effective care and reduce staff turnover due to stress\nExplore upcoming trends and developments in health and safety policy\n\n To view our brochure\, including the full event programme\, click here. \n I am pleased to advise you that we offer a 20% early registration discount off the standard delegate rates (subject to type of organisation and terms and conditions) for bookings received by the 2nd August 2019. Do feel free to circulate this information to relevant colleagues within your organisation. \n In the meantime\, to ensure your organisation is represented\, please book online or complete and return the attached registration form at your earliest convenience in order to secure your delegate place(s). \n Kind regards\, \n Conference Team Public Policy Exchange Tel: 020 3137 8630
