and\nDame Clare Marx\, Chair\, General Medical Council.\n\nThe agenda \n\nThe way forward for raising the quality of health and social care;\nThe Quality and Engagement Bill – assessing the potential impact on improving care and outcomes for patients and service users;\nGovernance and transparency of health boards and enhancing the voice of patients;\nThe workforce and delivering higher quality care – recruitment\, development\, and support for health and social care professionals;\nInspection and the regulation system in Wales; and\nRegulating professional standards.\n\nBook Online | Live Agenda \n  \nThe details: areas for discussion at this conference \n  \nGovernance and transparency \nPolicymakers and key stakeholders will assess provisions in the Quality and Engagement Bill\, with discussion expected on the key opportunities for improving governance\, transparency\, and patient outcomes across services at health boards. \nIt takes place as Healthcare Inspectorate Wales begins workstreams to review maternity services\, including on health board governance. \nEnhancing the voice of patients and improving provision of information \nDelegates will also consider proposals in the Bill related to protecting vulnerable groups and enhancing patient voice. \nFurther sessions discuss how to improve the effectiveness of information\, advice and assistance. \nIt comes as the Wales Audit Office concludes that although local authorities have made progress in reducing demand for social carein recent years\, challenges remain\, including: \n\nensuring provision is consistent across Wales\,\nsupporting carers\, and\nimproving awareness and accessibility of available information\, for example\, providing information in Welsh and other languages.\n\nAs the Public Services Ombudsman (Wales) Act comes into force – aimed at making the complaints process easier and allowing the Ombudsman proactively to initiate some investigations – we also expect discussion on the care pathway. \nWorkforce issues and delivering higher quality care \nFurther sessions consider how current challenges for the workforce in the health and social care sector might be overcome – particularly in the area of meeting skills needs. \nDelegates will also examine the way forward for improving care and identifying a future social care model. \nWe also expect discussion on the potential implications for the delivery of training and development in the future – including changes to training and upskilling that are most needed to support improvements in the delivery of care. \nIt takes place in the context of proposals in the Quality and Engagement Bill and the further integration of health and social care services. \nFunding and UK-wide policy developments \nWith the Inter-Ministerial Group on Paying for Social Care exploring the feasibility of introducing a levy or alternative funding mechanismin Wales\, those attending will consider the impact in Wales of the UK Government announcements on healthcare. \nIt comes: \n\nas the Government consults on the flexibility of pensions for senior clinicians\, and\nfollowing an announcement on additional funding for equipment and technology\, with around £110m expected to be allocated to Wales.\n\nThe draft agenda is copied below my signature\, and a regularly updated version is available to download here.
