SUMMARY:Female Genital Mutilation
DESCRIPTION:  \nTarget Group \nThis course is for staff from any agency either from Cardiff or the Vale of Glamorgan who may be working with children at risk of female genital mutilation \n  \nCourse Content  \nTo provide an overview of the practice of Female Genital Mutilation and gain an understanding of current research and the all Wales protocol. \nThis course aims \n – To raise awareness of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) as a cultural practice and consider the impact of the practice on children – To enable practitioners to identify children at risk of FGM and those children who may have had it performed – To ensure practitioners are aware of the All Wales FGM Protocol and are competent and confident to fulfil their agency role in respect of the protocol and the All Wales Child Protection Procedures – To give practitioners the opportunity to explore their own perceptions of FGM in a multi-disciplinary context using case studies \nPre-course Reading: the All Wales Child Protection Procedures and FGM Protocol. \n  \nCourse Facilitators  \nKaren Jewell\, Consultant Midwife\, Cardiff and Vale University Health Board\, \nKaren Moremon\, Principal Social Worker and \nRebecca Way\, Principal Social Worker \n  \n  \nTo request a place please email csbooking@cardiff.gov.uk with your full name\, job title\, workplace address\, telephone number\, email address and managers name.
