SUMMARY:DEAFBLIND AWARENESS - Espresso Plus Session
DESCRIPTION:Cardiff Council is running two half-day sessions today (and the same on Thursday 15 May): \nAM Session 9.30am – 12.30pm   \nPM Session 1.30pm – 4.30pm \nCourse facilitator: Michael Power – Sense Cymru  \nAfter completing this course participants will have knowledge of: \n – Cardiff’s Legal Responsibility towards Deafblind People in their area – How Deafblindness can affect a person’s ability to communicate\, access information and their mobility by experiencing Deafblindness through simulation exercises. – The impact of Deafblindness on an individual  – The authority’s internal processes –Identification\, assessment\, services\, one-to-one support workers\, information and senior management – Services that are offered to deafblind people\, families\, carers and professionals working with them \n  \nIn addition\, participants will have knowledge of: \n·       The Sense Sensory Impairment monitoring Scale (SSIMS) \n·       How to monitor older people who live in care homes for any signs of hearing and/or vision loss  \n·       What action to take if there are concerns about hearing and/or vision of one of your residentsTo book a place\, please email   S.E.Jones@cardiff.gov.uk with your full name\, job title\, place of work\, contact number and contact email address.
